2013 Torch Lake Freeride- July 13th, 2013

ive called the campgrounds a couple times now trying to find out what is up with the campsite reservations... They are not done with their remodeling yet, so they are not taking reservations yet due to the fact they dont kno how many sites are going to have utilities... idk, i tried to light a fire under their arse to atleast let us know when we might be able to reserve our spots. IDK about you guys but i can live without electricity for a couple days... (but then again im not running a total loss system either...)

I messaged the owners about the freeride. I guess they are only took reservations for the holiday weekend and only for rv/campers. He said they would start in march sometime. You can look them up on Facebook for all the updates, just search torch groove camp grounds.

This is true, which I why I have requested special permission with the Dnr to break that rule (should be in first post). Even if they deny it we can still have a great ride and use the sit downs for v wakes again.

Late last summer i got a ticket for not having a fire extinguisher onboard. Not sure if they are checking more now or were just pissed at me. just a heads up to save some people 95 dollars.

I was just reading this thread and was about to text u and I looked at the name. Them cock suckers but anyway I'm going to send u that title tomorrow I guess it doesn't matter when u get it back to me I won't be able to ride till July anyway. I know it's 5 am here but me and mr jack had a date and were strong till the sun comes up. I'm going to do everything I can to make it to this as well even if I have to drive the 1400 miles st8 through to get there the morning of the 13th.

Good News and Bad News:

The good: The event is Approved

The Ok: to quote from application "due to numerous noise complaints last year from the shoreline residents, I (scribbled something) request minimum distance of 1/2 mile from the shoreline" This isnt that big of a deal, but it kinda pisses me off, Its a public lake so last time I checked getting this event approved is not a necessity. Technically we should be able to show up and ride when ever we want. I guess our skis are just so much louder than all the open header boats.

The bad: they once again denied permission to break the 150' rule.

Hooray!!!!!

Screw the people on shore complaining about the noise they all got a free show and if i remember correctly people came out of the homes and watched from the docks and parked thier boats close to watch. Sometimes people just like to bitch, Screw-em

Also I don't think the skis are any louder then open header boats except the last time i checked the open header boats didn't stay within a 500sqft riding area for like an hour at a time. for them its a quick blast of loudness and then they are gone. Skis a just loud for longer periods of time, but like i said screw-em lol

The bad: they once again denied permission to break the 150' rule.

Who do we need to bribe to break this damn rule?

I know I am new to this site but have been boating and riding the area for a while. Torch is beautiful, but yeah all the land owners suck. But you can't blame them. The water patrol crack down hard on us Go Fast guys also, so don't feel discriminated against. But Torch is worth at least one trip, especially if you have never been there. ranked 3rd most beautiful Lake!

My suggestion for the future. What about holding the next event in West Bay or East Bay Lake Michigan? The bay is just as beautful as Torch, crystal clear blue water, Just BIGGER! All you have to do is stay away from the cities and public beaches and there are no patrol to worry about.

Enjoy!
