2014 Krash Predator - REVAMP

I got my pump in and aligned the best I could using the cold fusion tool. It seems that this new Torrent driveshaft is bent just the same as my last pump. With the pump perfectly aligned, you can turn the driveshaft 180 degrees and the tool will not slip into the jig. Has about 1/16” gap. I suppose this is normal and just split the difference. Anyways, I was able to get my spline depth set on the midshaft then proceeded to get some fitting done in the hull. I have a few clearance issues but nothing I didn’t expect in an aftermarket hull. I don’t know how I’m going to mount my bilges, My couch mounts are in the way of the exhaust tube, but maybe I can cheat it enough to clear. If not I’ll need to make a 45 degree coupler or something. The other issues is that the battery looks too high to clear the exhaust hose as well. I’m not a fan of lithium batteries but I don’t know any way to get around the battery without the exhaust hose rubbing it pretty hard.

You got the tools.to check run-out on the shaft? I can send you mine if you want

Yes, I do. But I don't really know what to do about it. Im sure I could pull my pump, ship it back to Brian and have him check it/replace it but then there's more time and money. Maybe I will email him and ask what he thinks. I guess all shafts have some run-out in them. Or I bent it somehow.. but I doubt that, I'm super OCD about everything haha

Put it on two "V" blocks, with a dial indictor, find the high spot, mark it and hit it with a hammer, they bend pretty easy. I've straightened a few of them, it's not hard, you don't even have to remove the shaft from the pump.

ScottS you are the man! I have a friend that does custom crankshaft and camshaft "re-phasing" and he showed me how to true a crank one day... Same as this picture!!

I spoke with Brian at Torrent and he told me this is normal. He also explained that getting the alignment correct up and down was important because that is where the preload on the bearings is. However, there is an amount of gravity pulling down on the 2' fulcrum in addition to some bearing clearance, this could account for the "bend" He said the way I am checking alignment is the same way they do it. You just split the difference of any up/down run-out and let it ride.

P.S. Did anyone notice how crooked my front right motor mount is next to the battery tray? Looks like somebody got it pretty crooked haha

Getting some test fitting done, turfed the water-box and trying to figure out where to mount my 2nd bilge. I’ve got 1 underneath the midshaft but because of the scoop before the intake, I cannot fit 2 there. Doesn’t seem to be any other space to get it mounted. I might end up mounting it in the back corner in front of the scupper tunnel. Who knows.

Can someone give me some advice on how to lay the breather tubes? Do they both go to 1 side or split to opposite directions? What side do you run the trim cable up? I know it’s all whatever but I’m curious how people typically lay it out.

I found a solution to the battery thing. I sourced a stainless “S” bend pipe with an 8” offset and it sure does fit nice…

I decided to try and cram the helicoils into the handlepole bracket and send it. I can’t wait around forever! Hopefully the new bracket will show up sometime… and I also hope this one holds together long enough for me to have some fun.
I found some decent breather tubes on McMaster and they fit nice and tight through the hull. They do not however fit through the handlepole tubes. Is this normal? Do you just stick them up in there the best you can?

I figured out my bilge set up. I was able to get a side mount bracket from Xylem and housed a nice new 1100GPH bilge in place. I glassed in a stud and mounted the bracket to it, fits perfectly! Plus I siliconed the ol’ 500GPH bilge to the bottom of the hull and it will clear the midshaft. I’m pretty happy with the way this is turning out. I also screened off my scupper hole in the bulkhead, not trying to lose crap back in the cave.
