From 101 Freeway take Grand Ave exit until you cross a set of train tracks that takes you to the beach entrance about 500 feet ahead. (see Map photo for a birds eye)
Grand Ave has everything from, Markets, 7-11’s, Restaurants, Coin washes, Banks, Gas, and almost everything else you will need on the way in or out of the beach.
Entrances:
The Grand ave entrance is open from 6am to 11pm
If you arrive or need to leave late the Pier ave entrance is open 24 hours. (see Pier ave attached map)
Depending on the time of year this entrance is usually the most hard packed.
Don’t forget to Air Down and or bring tow straps!!!
Camping:
Through www.Reserveamerica.com you can pre order your camping passes for $10 a night. Pre purchasing tickets seem to make it a much more less questions asked entry to the beach for all the gear and shenanigans we tend to bring in the back of our trucks/ trailers.

Pismo is well known to be BLOWN out. Pismo can also be very nice weather but it never hurts to prepare for cold and heavy winds blowing constantly from 11am to 7pm.
Tents:
• Stake or sand bag em down!
• Dig a burm facing the wind and throw a tarp over the top of your tent anchoring it down with the weight of the sand burm to deflect the wind and morning dew that will soak your tent.
RV’s/Trailers:
• Please keep an eye out on arrival park in a semi circle with other RVS to help block the wind for the party in the center!
• You will make plenty of friends with a place to hang out, shower, or use your bathroom.
• Want to rent an RV? These people deliver on the beach!

Quads/ Sand toys:
• Have legit registration
• Must have a flag whip and helmet to ride around even “in the campsites”
• Pismo Sheriffs are quick to issue and investigate possible DUI’s so have fun but be cautious.
• 15MPH on the sand highway in front of the camp across the whole beach.
What will be going on and who will be there?
• People will be in or out of the water riding the gnarly to mellow Pismo surf. It is quite possible high winds will come through anywhere around 11am-2pm and not lighten up until about 6-8pm. Most people hop on their quads and dirtbikes and demolish the sand dunes 100 yards behind from the campsite.
• There are a few out houses along the campsite other than that bring an RV or make friends with people who have one.
• Please BRING FIREWOOD to pitch into the community bonfire because pismo does get pretty dark and chilly at night.
• As the tide comes up move your stuff. It makes us look like weirdos when nobody can drive down the beach. The last thing we want is to draw attention to us (including the rangers) because they have to weave between ski's and cars parked too low. Try to leave room for 2 rows of traffic to drive through thanks
• MX/quad riders if you guys could help us jetskiiers out by setting up your camps a little further up toward the dunes that would help out a ton. will keep us jetski riders closer to the beach and obviously keep us all closer to what we all like to ride through out the day. We had some issues last year with bikes and quads mixed up in the camp kicking up sand within camp when guys were trying to fix jetski engines & things during the day.
The beach is big enough for the both of us and its going to be a great time forsure! No love lost to our new guests, I just ask on behalf of the jetski freeride community that we give each other some space this year so people who want to rage heavy through the night (which involved fireworks and cops coming to our area last year) can do so ruthlessly without being in the middle of the freeride party who isn't quite on that level all together.

By and large, Pismo Beach is known as the "Clam Capital of the World." Log on to www.classiccalifornia.com/clamming for all the info. Four-wheel ATV riding on the dunes around Oceano can be fun, too, although widely frowned upon by environmentalists and dune lovers. You can rent ATVs from B.J.'s ATV (805-4815411) and Arnie's ATV Rentals (805-473-1610). For something equally motorized but unique in its own funny way, you can embark on a Hummer Beach Tour (805-481-9330). For all you Pac-Man freaks, there's a full arcade in the Typhoon Family Entertainment Center (805-773-8604) and bowling is available at the Pismo Bowl downtown (805-773-2482). My favorites are the veggie on white sauce, roadkill on either sauce, Hawaiian with garlic on white sauce....Garlic cheese bread is to DIE FOR - yummy sandwiches burgers & salads too. Ooh... The things i would do for a slice (or 2) right now.... My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I've never been to a free ride or Pismo. Rode last year first time in Ocean side with my nephew. This year I'd like to come check it out, my Freind who wants to come rides a kawi sit down. My questions on that, is this ok? Stays out of the stand ups way for sure. If yes. How to launch it? Are their guys there with the larger ski Dolly's for a sit down? My truck is all wheel drive also

Come on out, the freeride is awesome and surf is the most fun. I guarantee you will leave with at least 25 new friends. Even if you don't ride it's still a ton of fun hanging out in the community. We have had a few sitdowns out there before, but they are pretty much on their own for launching. Nobody has super big beach carts, and I wouldn't suggest backing your truck in the ocean. I would just have your buddy ride a stand up or something. A sit down seems like too much work to me.

I'm trying to make it out this year, at least to watch if nothing else. I just happened to show up last year to ride my bikes on the same date as the free ride and ended up watching the skis more than I rode bikes that weekend. Everyone was super cool and like you said, friends are easy to make. My one question though, Why do you guys choose pole 4 to setup? Instead of going down farther to like 7 or something? I left last year about high tide and there were barely 2 open lanes and a dually pulling a toy hauler was damn near taking skis out to fit through. Just seems to me like you'd want to get away from all the (typically drunk) terrible drivers out there showing off.

This was argued for many years... in the early days when I first started going it seemed like we were further down. Then there were a couple different freeride competitions that took place on various years which dictated where exactly we should or should not be. (Not to mention the WORCS off-road races that TOTALLY PACKED the beach!).
The last few years the group has settled at #4 - it's a compromise. Lots of the local guys prefer closer to the entrance ramps (closer to post 2) for the shorter drive, convenience and better waves. BUT - it is too narrow there for any sort of large gathering. So... the majority don't want to have to drive any further than post 4. Yes, it can become busy and congested there during the day. But it has become a go-to location that we all know. there were many years where people ended up scattered at different spots and it was a mess. Luckily this has not been the case since post 4 has become "the spot".

So far we have 79 people that say that are going on the Facebook event. You could be number 80. Each one of those people always have some buddies that go with them. This even keeps growing and growing every year. I bet we were around 300 people last year. It's always a good time regardless of turnout. I wouldn't miss it for the world. You won't be disappointed, I can guarantee that.
