Hello everyone! Welcome to the Spring 2014 Carolina Beach Freeride at Freeman Park discussion thread! (otherwise known as the north end). For those who do not know what Freeman Park is, it is a 4x4 only beach access that you can camp on and bring your skis to ride surf any time of the year. Basically this is a freeride weekend event starting Thursday and ending Sunday evening. There is an access fee at the entrance to Freeman Park and it is 20 dollars per night or 50 dollars for the entire week or you may buy a season pass for 100 dollars and it will cover you for both the spring and fall freeride. You would need to bring all necessary camping gear, food, and beverages for the weekend. There is a grocery store and gas stations near Freeman Park for your convenience.

The camping area will be at the very point of Freeman Park where jet skis and boats are allowed to be pulled up on the beach at any time.

Note: this is a 4x4 vehicle only event, you either need to be able to take your skis out to the Park in the bed of a truck, hitch hauler, or Snow's Cut boat ramp is very nearby and skis can be launched from there and driven around to the camping area on the point in a less than 5 minute drive! I highly suggest hitch haulers or truckbed methods! No trailers are allowed on Freeman Park! More than likely we will obtain a pass to allow unattached trailer parking at Snow's Cut Public Ramp again.

Permanent date for the 2014 spring event is the weekend of the 1st-4th of May!
Permanent date for the 2014 fall event is TBD

This is the address to the entrance of Freeman Park. 1818 Canal Dr. Carolina Beach, NC 28428

Attached is a satellite image of the camping area and freeride areas.

Please contact me by PM, reply, text, or call at 910-214-2114 with any questions you may have! Scott.

P.S. There is no glass liquor or bottled beer allowed on Freeman Park, only cans ;)

Love the camp/beach ride, like it better than Daytona but...

What happened to actually being on ocean front at "Carolina Beach". that would bring so many more ppl that don't have deep sand equipped vehicle like myself. Everyone offers shuttles but its always a hassle. Last I herd permits were being pursued? questionmark?

Ashby myself and tommy are meeting with the CB events coordinator soon to discuss and make happen moving the event to a location on the oceanfront side of Freeman Park but as of now there are no plans to pursue a host hotel and completely move away from Freeman Park. The town of carolina beach have been revising their events policies and have just started accepting new applications as of the new year.

i think the thing that differentiates this event from others is the chill aspect of camping and riding at the same spot. It's cheap, chill, and a great time. The camping and riding aspect is what I loved about the old riot rides too.

Agree with mindless, It would just be awesome to be able to watch people ride the shore breakers. And when a ski breaks down you don't have to get towed for 15 minutes across the inlet.

Agree with DAG, it's a lil ways to the breakers, and I end up feeling bad for couches towing all that way. Where else are there good breakers?

There are good breakers all along the oceanfront side of Freeman Park on your drive into the park. Although I'm hoping to secure a place at the oceanfront side towards the point so we can have direct oceanfront riding right in front of the campsites as well as being able to ride all across the inlet for the best cleanest waves possible!

Where we are at now there has never been any conflict with the Non-skiers /fishermen, we dont need cones, signs, or boundaries, if the skis move to the ocean side I guarantee there will be conflicts, its just natural, also will be much more vehicle traffic all day/night long ..... ... I like being .........''out of sight ,out of mind '' if it aint broke dont fix it . IMO

Very good point. We've aleady got it in motion though and it would definitely be a benefit to have the main ride spot right next to the camping spot. We can always go back to the original setup easy enough if any issues arise.

Frank I'm definitely getting conflicting opinions from both sides of the fence lol. It's tough. We will see what happens after my meeting next week.
