There is always more than one way to skin a cat, his way works for him......

24/7 use to only reinforce on the top half of the hulls. That is where they crak most of the time anyhow. the lower half is much stronger and thicker.

maybe im not seeing this right...you used two sheets and made a seam on the unfilled bondline???...i just dont see how you could do that without creating airbubbles??

I did not do this. I am with you, personally I would foam the void in. but if he layed up glass/carbon and forced it into the crease then came back and layed another layer on just the top half. It is possible to not have air bubbles......... Who are you or I to say that he did or did not have air bubbles.

im not saying it did or didnt just wondering how he did it..aad was questioning his statement that the bond line dosnt need to be filled thats all

why would you post a step by step buildup of your ski if you dont want constructive critisism???...no one is making fun of you or telling you that you are stupid..they are just giving you some suggestions..thats the only way to learn unless you are an expert already.. ;)

I don't know if it's thicker or not, but it's NOT stronger. The bottom half is relatively weak SMC and the top is long strand hand laid glass.

I prefer filling with foam vs filling it solid with resin (weight).

The foam is the weak link if done that way. Filling the gap is ONLY done to provide a smooth transition so the glass can be laid w/o leaving a void so the halves can be tied together as a unit. The gap only needs to be filled enough to get rid of any "butt crack" that exist at the joint. If thickened epoxy is used you will add almost no weight and the top and bottom can be effectively joined. When flexed the foam WILL seperate from either the hull or the new reinforcement. Once that happens you have the early stages of delamination.

my old hull cracked on the left and right side above the bond line. none below except at the right rear from roll attemps.

like I had said before, Maros use to only re-inforce the top side, at least on some ski's that I have seen pics of them.

How about giving Wamilton a call, I believe that is how he does them. My hull that I have now was painted and prepped by wammer. that how it is done. and it got abused by Pat Bogart early on in his career when he would have been much rougher on them than he is now, then FL Superjet had it to learn on, then RoyalFlush trashed on it for a while........ yes, there some some cracks around the nose area but looks mostly from flex in the clear coat. No issues along the bond line.

and yes, it is used to "Fill the gap"

But like I said, there is always 2 ways..........

Just like making legs, you got a right leg and then a left leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!
