shawn, I didn't want to fluff you while we were talking numbers but you were one of a small handful of people I would have sold that hood to. Otherwise I would have just kept if forever. It has to stay in the family. I can't wait to see what comes of it.

Well I don't think a more deserving person could have bought it. I once thought I was hard core into X2's but Shawn takes the cake. After riding a bunch of built SJs when I lived in AL, I knew one day I would have to make this same jump...

Thanks guys for all the positive words!

Just have to strap the battery down and wire the bilge pump and she's done. Fired it up earlier and it should be ready to go. Unfortunatly family emergency probably going to squash the test ride today (sat), but hopefully sunday I will get it in the water.

Tom, I cant wait to see your & Tims new hood!

So I got a chance to do a quick tank rip today. Start the ski, sounds mean! Drive over to the ramp, Pay my $20 to use it, back the truck down. I figured being it was a total overhaul I would run it on the trailer for a few. Go to push the start button and CLICK. CLICK, CLICK goes the relay......:):):):)KK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I jumped the relay and it kicks over fine. I am going to swap the relay and check for bad wires, being these electrics arent the best. So back to troubleshooting. Sucks ass I really wanted to test ride it today.

I got a good laugh out of this. Here is the hood in one of its previous lives. Not even 30miles from my house...LOL Hood has done some traveling.

Was that Dave's hood, the guy who used to work for Paul Jr. back around 2002 or so?

you will love it, i rode wavedemons 2 years ago

EPIC FAILURE OF A WEEKEND!!!! Replaced the relay and it still clicked. I dont have time for this missing riding BS.... New OEM starter, new battery new Pos and Neg wires, new starter wire, new ground from EBox to stator, and new start stop.... will all be installed asap. Reusing old ebox :):):):) sucks.

I hate yamaha ebox's by the way. Kawi def has the advantage there.

New relay? usually low batt voltage will kill the relay, or starter is frozen

Tried 2 relays (used), 2 batteries (12.89v and 12.67v), and 2 (rusted/sh*tty) starters. I think its the wiring by process of elimination. I tried one of the started hooked direct to battery and it did spin. I want it to be very reliable, so new everything is going in.

no he is thinking Dave Natke, I dont think it was ever owned by him though, Ive seen quite a few different people ride it here when that pic was taken but I dont remember who actually owned it, I have pics of a few different people on it. Smitty is the canadian guy, he had a bright orange and white ski at that time.

Thanks for the correction.

I rode the SJ for the first REAL time this friday after a total gut. Still having a minor carb issue with the rear 38 carb DUMPING fuel into the cylinder while riding (but still not running tooo bad). Besides it eating 1/2 tank in 15 mins..... I just have to center the steering some.

But WOW. This rides NOTHING.....NOTHING like an X2. Turns that the X2 would slide on the SJ grabs and dumps you. I am still getting used to reboarding, as its very slightly harder then the x2. But overall big thumbs up. I cant wait to get my pump with 12/17 mag and TBM in it. Ported 701 motor sounds so F'ing mean with the hood...lol.

very cool! get some video if you can.

Shawn I have seen some needles get hung up on the lever as they have a little bump on em sometimes. keeps it from closing and just floods all the time, also some crap might be stuck in the needle and check the little clear plastic flap on the part of the carb that is held in over the jets with the two phillips.
