I dunked it in the water and let it idle for a few mins late Sat, just to get a heat cycle on it. The "ramp" I did this @ is an SUPER NO WAKE ZONE, and I did not want to piss off the kayakers who OWN the spot and had me outnumbered 100:1. So I cannot give any ride report....YET. I should have a UPS shipment today of some 2" box aluminum to make some beachcart mods to allow me to load/unload the van by myself. All goes according to plan I will be taking it for its first real ride tomorrow or Thursday at the latest. Only thing thing left on the ski is to take a trip over to the bolt store to get the correct FA bolts, so I can bolt up the stock 44 airboxes with the XMW risers.

I also got my X2 back together and running last weekend! Memorial Day weekend starts for me in 2hours!

Gordon you would be proud. Wish I had a picture of it, but when we laid up the tray, we took 12K uni 2"tape, and actually "weaved" an over/under 0/90Deg stringer ply. With all the other reinforcing, I would bet this is one of the strongest stock hulls in existence...lol

Took the ski out for the first time today. I cannot believe how F'ing hard this XScream motor hits! I did not even touch the carb settings. Long no wake idles, and just instant ripping. The power is on like a lightswitch as soon as it comes on the pipe....and I am not used to anything near this power. There really is something to be said, if you choose to have a custom motor done, get the whole package start to finish. I could not be more impressed!

NOW.... TOMORROW SURF WITH THE FX1 MAFIA!!! Van is loaded and ready to roll at daybreak!

I really thought I could not ride a SJ to save my life....

2 days in the surf, and another 2 flat water sessions, and I am falling like a complete freaking newb nonstop. I can ride an X2 in the surf and fall 2-3 times a day. The SJ had me on my ass 500x, landing maybe 20% of my reentries, and I was falling on stupid wake jump landings 70% of the time. Finally today it clicked to me that something was not right. I looked at the pump and found that one of the bolts holding the nozzle on was missing. So the nozzle has just been sending me whereever it felt like when landing jumps/reentries. Fixing that and reinstalling a stock rideplate (getting rid of DCUT) and I'm gonna see how that helps the handling.

The good news is 23gallons of 93 octane in 4days of BRAPPING and the new XS motor is ripping like a monster!

Thanks to FX crew for the hospitality this weekend!

i remember seeing that hood and original ski in Paul's shop back in the day
i personally never liked it myself, but thought it was unique and cool at the same time

Chris made the best stuff ever... i seriously seriously and SERIOUSLY regret not getting his carbon handlepole when i did my hood kit

I reinstalled the stock pole on this ski, but after riding my Rickter with the billet RRP pole...the stocker feels like a heavy POS. So after taking the time to install it clean and route everything nice, I'm pulling the stock pole off this weekend. Ordered another complete billet RRP pole setup for this ski, and I hope to have it together by mid next week. Going to run stock hood (sealing all breathers on it) because this is my backup boat and I dont want to buy a hood for it...lol Will get some pics next week once the RRP pole is on.

My GF said she wants to ride this summer. So I am going to set the throttle cable so the ski cant go WOT....lol

Big thanks to Kenny (Breese08SJ) for helping me with the RRP pole install from hell (100F day, with hail thunderstorm mid install). Took the SJ out and its 10000x better then it was with the stock pole. Nice to finally have a kick ass backup/loaner ski running. Stock hood...FTW. LOL!

I HATE pole skis...F:tapedshut:CKING HATE them. I have owned 2 FX1's, and spent time on superjets... but I could never get into riding a ski with a pole. I did alot of BMX'ing as a kid, and pole skis were just awkward.

Shawn I hope you see the humor here...x2 guy(never gonna ride a pole ski) to fixed steer sj to pole ski sj. lol Welcome to the group.

so what are you gonna do with the fixed steer hood?

Still have it. Was going to see how I liked the pole setup over the year and maybe list the fixed for sale @ daytona. I would sell it now for the right price.

and what changed your mind about the pole setup?

I have only ridden stock fx1 poles and tight XMetal poles. I hate them both. Stock feels heavy and tight unsprung poles are just aweful. Never spent time on a good pole setup like the rrp. After spending time on it, riding these skis I finally see "the light" what its all about.

A lightweight old school X2 with a 144pump, bolt in yammy mounts, wide rickter bondline, and rickter rocker would be my ultimate boat. No I am not going to try to build it. No question the X2 is still the boat. Just to many short comings, and I could never go back to the enclosed motor bay after dealing with the open style of standups.

some of the a/m throttles have little threaded pins in them to add or limit travel..you could easily make it only go up to half to 2/3
