Play with shims when you get time, The more shims you have the more it will stuff the pump with water, You can really fine tune your pump by playing with shims and nozzle bores. I am super stoked it is working for you now, post up some vids so we can all see this thing in action.

no trim, just hit it close to the boat so he could get a good shot of it up close. further back on the second roller, a little pre hop and trim it gets up and out pretty good. Im still rusty after riding like 3 times all last summer.

Will adding water right at the outlet of the waterbox hurt performance at all? This is way too loud. I let a friend ride it today and I could see people giving dirty looks. I didn't know how bad it was! It's obnoxiously loud. But it rips!

I dont know for sure if it will hurt anything, but that is what im doing, Im going to run tripple cooling from the pump and have one of those just dumping into my resonator, Im also puttin a adjustable valve in it that way I can fine tune the amount of water being dumped into it.

The older I get, the more I hate a loud ski..

I'm just worried about it getting vandalized. Even though the people I rent from live there all summer, have motion lights and cameras. Sometimes that's not enough to stop a pissed off neighbor. Too much time and money to have someone cut the lock, drag it out and sink it on me.

Better get some good chains and locks.. Did you put rear exhaust in it or did you run it out the side?

That video looks like side exhaust... I dont think you will get it much more quite than that if you only run side exit.

yep, side exit. I may just re route a pisser hose right to the last 2" of pipe before it gets to the outlet.

Its locked up good and sits 20' from the marina owners house. Im not too worried about it, but I am. I drive 1 mile out of my way on the way to work just to make sure its still there. I got a masterlock cable thats supposed to be impossible for bolt cutters to get through, looped around a dock piling under the dock and locked through the bow eye fitting in the tray. it will be hard to take, but nothing is impossible to get through.

I have a masterlock cable like that and I always would go around the drive shaft and then to my trailer.

It would be easy to cut that little bit of glass on tray and take your ski. Maybe you could go around the drive shaft and through the dock piling too. I dont know if that would be easy for you though. Just something i did when i would have to lock my ski to my trailer.
Least you got someone real close to watch it and its summer time and people are out this time of year.
But when you got a nice ski, you gotta be paranoid, because its small and worth a lot of money.

I used to have a cable around the driveshaft to trailer. One on the bow eye to trailer. Then lock trailer with cable to a big awning post. I fet much better even though it was probably over kill, but when you read and hear the stories of peeps getting a real nice ski ripped off, it makes me sick to my stomach..

Have fun! Be safe!

Ok so to anyone that puts down the pump stuffer by tbm or r&d you are sadly mistaken. What a night and day difference!!! Instant hookup, the motor hits right off idle. Maybe a little more pipe tweaking but holy hit batman. I would swear I changed out the prop if I didn't know any better. I am very satisfied with this build. Wouldn't trade it for the world. I guess next I'll start a for sale thread of all the stuff I won't be needing. And when I get time I'll post a build / cost tally for anyone wondering what a build like this would cost, ( I'm wondering too! ). I'll try to get some videos tomorrow. Don't expect much as I'm lacking in the skills department! But at least now I have the ski to do it all.

The final piece to making your setup come alive. Very nice!
I think too many people have bought pump stuffers and put them in expecting "bolt on horsepower". Just goes to show how important the entire setup is, from finger throttle to nozzle bore. (OK so maybe finger throttle is a bit of an exaggeration.)

I have one more thing I want to try. There is an angled wedge plate that is between the reduction nozzle and the pump body. Can I run without it? It almost seems like it would do the same thing the shims on the tail cone would do. I may try without that and put the rest of the shims in and see if it hooks up any better.

If that still dosent make me happy, Would a setback 145 mag pump be too much going from the 140 kawi pump? or is the biggest not always the best? Will that start the prop guessing game all over again, or are the guys at impros like fluid dynamics engineers? I would imagine there would be some trial and error getting that set up just like saying the 10-16 hooker would be perfect for what I have now.

I added 2 shims and took out the wedge plate. it was too much, and the motor didnt rev as fast as before. I put the plate back in and it seems pretty good. Im ordering a mag pump on tuesday. If you were in this situation, would you go 140, or 144, setback or non setback?

144 so when u invariably upgrade ur hull or engine your pump can work it's magic. I want to ride one of those.

Just for fun I'm going to put the Solas 15/20 from my 951 project so I have something else to compare to when I order mag pump. I'm almost positive it's a large hub too. Maybe it won't have the pump loaded until the motor is in it's powerband? It's worth a shot before I spend almost another 2 k on this. But with all this motor, and all the other stuff I put into this, it's almost like driving a ferrari on donut tires. If nothing else, I will have more data for impros when we chose a prop setup for the mag pump.

I just eyeballed the Solas, it's a small hub. Im going to take out the stuffer, and go back to the wet wolf cone and see what this prop will do. just so I have something to do this morning.

Im curious to see what impeller u end up with in the mag. I've been following ur build closely can't wait to hear mag results. Does it not have enough hook with the 140 and hooker with suffer? Or is it just ultimate hook ur lookin for like most of us!
