My opinion on the Bob is that a fool and his money are soon parted, with that said you buy one , I don't need one.

I picked up an 87 300sx this summer on a single galv trailer for $300, basically bought a nice trailer and got the ski for free :D .. Going to build it stock for my kids to learn on for now.. I had to throw a head gasket in it and a battery.. Fired right up.. It is a fun ride once you lean over the front to plane it out.. I'd like to hear more about the timing fix..... I knew about the WR500 carb, but can't seem to find one.. I also won the Ugliest ski contest on WCSS's Facebook about a week ago.. The kids chose the Kawi green Blacktip turf for it with PSA... SO as soo as my shop is done being built I am painting it the pink they requested and throwing on the green turf.. haha Should be fun... Once they are over it I will be creating a freestyle ski... haha

The reason you are having to lean over the fron is that the handlepoe is too long and the funky bars add to this, you can get the steering plate off of a 650sx and the center pivot, screw the center pivot onto the 300SX part and install regular style handlebars, you can also cut the handlepole off in the back by an inch and move it up, I ended up cutting the pole apart on mine and welding it back together, I believe it is -4 now, much much better.

KC you need a superjet so you can just spend more time with the kids and in the shop....lol.

haha If I had the money for one of those I would have one too Crab.. Wish I could pic up Jeff's square.. But I want an 08-up when I go looking for one.. haha

Thanks for the info WFO... Always looking out to figure out good mods to make it work for now.. haha

Correction on the timing: Group K disagreed about that. They use stock timing on thier sleeper mod. I consider them to be the last word on this type of thing so I will not be messing with the timing.

I don't see Group K mart as being the know all end all on any subject PWC related, they know what they know and thats about it.

Well, I didn't mean it that way, however, they have done a ton of research over the years. They have been around a long time and they can make huge performance gains for a very reasonable price. When they tell me the timing is fine, I tend to believe it. It would take several other professional opinions to prove them wrong in my book. That's all I meant to say.

I have to respectfully disagree on the huge performance gains.I have seen some of their work first hand and I was not impressed, what I saw would have never left my shop in such a state, it ended up causing a crash into a seawall, if it had been me I would have been pissed, luckily I was not involved at all in the deal.

I've heard a lot of mostly good things about Group K, and I respect Harry -he's a class act.
But "huge performance gains" is one thing I've never heard as being associated with his work.

So who would you guys recommend porting my 300 then? Harry says it was a very conservativley ported engine from the factory. Somethig like a yamaha. I assume you could get some decent HP out of this little thing if done right. Gk is the only shop I've seen with experience porting this motor.

Have you called anyone else?
My experience is with Jetworks, and I know he still to this day ports 550's and build affordable, screaming engines that spank other, shinier and more expensive setups.

I'm looking for a fair deal on a 300sx or possibly JS pipe. Please let me know if you see a deal on one. The Ebay guys are way too proud of them.
