300SX with 800 motor!

We had an old hull lating around at the shop, thus the crazy idea.

The plan is to drop an 800 SX-R motor in it and make a wild surf boat. Check out the lines of the hull.... looks a bit like the FS-1.

We'll keep you updated!

Hope you actually do it, see alot of talk about these crazy builds then they try it and see why everyone else says FI and quits. 800 in a 300 hull... Never ridden a 300 but imagine with a 800 in it it would be worthwhile :) If riverrat can stick a supercharge seadoo couch motor in a sxr why not an 800 in a 300 hull..

what pump are you going to use?? how are you going to change the inlet side of the pump to match the pump? :eek:mfg: this will be a build to watch.
wow more power to you.. the ski too.. that is going to be one twitchy ski.. cheers :friday:

Check out my build thread it shows the new mounts I made up,its by far the easiest way to do a conversion it that ski. Also I had looked into putting a 650 style pump into one of these,I believe with the stx 900 shaft assy and a 650 style bearing housing it can be done, the rear pump tunnell is wide enough and I think the pump will mount up in the hull high enough, you just need to reshape the intake tunell to accept the bigger pump.

I love the way that that pole fits the ski. I might have to do that to mine.

I have been thinking of putting a 701 in a 300. I will have to watch to see how the hull handles the power and the motor. I have a wetjet Kraze sitting in the yard that I want to do somethign with... I could use the pump, motor, and all out of that thing.

And just a FYI those elbow caps weigh about 10 or 12 pounds a piece and the fiberglass under that is SUPER thick. That is a good reshaping and weight saving place.

good old p'cola
i bet that pole weighs alot more than the aluminum ladder set up that is stock.

i would have just moved it forward about 6" and been done. you can also replace the pivot shaft from the steering w/ a 650sx shaft then use a quick steer and 0 - 7 deg bars.

i did this on my sons sx w/ a 300 pole and bracket

You can also move the mounting up 2 inches and cut the back off of the pole off. I can't remember what I cut off but it is super simple to shorten it 2 inches. (is has been a while)
