You guys going to be making any nose piece parts? Coming along nicely. Bracket is a great idea.

I already lifted a mold of my hull mod to make the nose pieces. I did a less than perfect job (had a few air bubbles) and the mold needs some repair before I can actually lift a part from it. Unfortunatly, school is keeping me from wrapping up that project. We're also tossing arround ideas as to how recommend the best way to install the part once they are made. My 1st priority is getting my boat in the water.

When the hole was cut for the exhaust, I realized how thick the glass on the nose of this ski is. This boat is probably indestructible in the nose, :haha: but it might be a bit heavier than necessary. If I were to do this again, I'd probably use 8lb foam, one layer of biax and 2 layers of cloth (as opposed to the 2lb foam, one layer of biax and 4 layers of cloth). Just a bit of a side note incase anyone plans to try the same project.

4 pound is strong enough, but I have torn through the biax and cloth in one spot when I ran up on some gravel at Greyland last year. BTW, looks exactly like mine.

it is yours. i snuk into your garage and lifted a mold, photoshopped a few pics as a cover up and presto, credit 4 build skillz 4 me

I finally got to take the ski out now that it has all of the mods done...

The nose fill and the tubbies has improved the handling a great deal. The ski handles much better at high speeds. It tracked very well and didn't try to fall over. It also jumped much straighter. The stock ski came off the waves leaning to one side or the other, but now the ski jumps level everytime. It turns significantly better than stock as well.

The power was great too. I have a lot less 701 envy now. Tom did a really good job setting up the engine parts considering nothing fit right before he started working. The ski pulls strong through the whole RPM range.

I took the new ski for it's second ride today. I am still impressed by it.

I raced a stock SXR across the lake today. He only had me by about 1mph. The cool part is how smooth the X2 rode. At WOT, it rode perfectly level, no wobbling, no falling over, I didn't have to shift my weight arround to make the pump hook up. He had his ass hanging off the back of his ski, and I was sitting down with a hand on my hip. The ski rides SMOOTH.

It continues to jump perfectly level every single time.

My bottom mod with Tom21's tubbies are working GREAT! I'm very happy with them. Also, now that I have properly adjusted throw, it turns on a dime. Very hapy atm.

that is the most stable small ski I've ever ridden.

I'll have to ride it to believe it turns on a dime. I think you'll need to cut the rear still.

The exhaust hoses were kinked the way it had been set up. I rerouted the hoses to go to the right and then over the fuel tank. This seems to be allowing for much improved airflow. I backed the high speed screw out 3/4 turn, the low speed 1/4 turn and the idle up to match, to make up for the lean caused by more airflow. These changes noticibly improved my bottom end. To rig this mess, I used some old hose, the 2 elbows from the waterbox on my SX, a u-shaped pipe from an old X2, and a spring reenforced radiator hose. It's not by any means perfect or pretty, but the power has been increasing with every change.

The Factory limited pipe uses 2" hoses, but my waterbox and exhaust outlet are 650 size, which is restricting airflow. My homemade water shield on the carb is also restricting flow. I'm going to leave it as is for now because I've spent more time with a wrench than on the water, but there's defenitly room to gain more power at low-to-no cost.

I also think I'm going to have to get a larger prop. My 10/18 Skat Trak is cavitating.

I melted my engine back in june... http://x-h2o.com/showthread.php?t=53815

I found out my engine had been bored to 0.5mm over stock. I had it bored out to 0.75mm over stock. I bought Pro-X pistons.

Anyway... I'm redoing the set up of the engine compartment while I have it apart. The engine melted because it was too lean. However, the exhaust hoses and the waterbox are restrictive and I'm bumping everything up to the same size as the pipe as it should be.

I'm going to be running a 550 gas tank. It still needs to be mounted. The change allows the 750 pipe to sit where it is supposed to and hopefully should elimate the problem I had with breaking the bracket. The E-box will probably stay where it is in the pics. The battery may have to be moved under the seat. I need to obtain or build a water box and exaust outlet of the larger size. The fuel tank has been moved to the side in pics 4 and 5 so other stuff can be seen.

Tom loaned me a SJ pipe and a stock SJ waterbox to try out. They fit well and I'll probably stick to this set up over the 750 limited pipe (I give Tom, you were right, I should have listened earlier, sheesh!)

I need to get a preformed hose or a bent pipe to connect the waterbox and the pipe, and to route the waterbox to an outlet of yet-to-be determined location. (Probably about the stock location on the right side.)

I like the stock SJ waterbox and plan to keep it. The stock X2 gas tank is going to create issues with the exhaust routing. The difference is only 0.5 gallons of fuel in capacity, so I'm planning on continuing with the 550 tank.

Pics 1-3 are with a 550 gas tank.

Pics 4-5 are with the stock X2 tank.

I haven't decided on the location of the battery yet. It may go under the seat.

since you never listen to me- I will say use the 550 tank. now when you install the stock tank you will have room for the battery and ebox just like it was before.:eek:mfg:

When Vumad makes his first million that would be the time to start doing all the extra work to make whatever he wants fit where ever he wants it. as it stands now he never rides and when he does its not for long. usually because he wants what he wants. not knocking just saying at this point it would have been better to leave it stock as it would have provided more quality ride time. ask anybody, when you have a lack or time, lack of money or lack of both- you keep it simple. there will be setbacks with any scenario but simple makes it way easier to get back on the water. And that is always the goal isn't it? Ride when you can- build when you must.:cheer:

I agree and I too want stuff just like I want it, but then I have multiple skis to ride,backups for the backups, so I can afford the luxury of getting it just like I want it.

The stock tank will not work with the SJ waterbox. I'm not interested in using a restrictive 650 waterbox or hoses.

While the boat did run the way you had it set up, Tom, it ran like :):):):). I realize I insisted on the 750 limited pipe and you did the best with what little I gave you to work with. I realize it was my fault that the motor melted down, but that again was due to rushing to the water. The exhaust coupling ($80) and the motor ($400) was a huge setback, and both completely avoidable.

I'm not in a rush to get back onto the water. It's more important to me to know that once I am back on the water, I can stay there. The X2 will not go out until I know it's mechanically correct. I've said that before, but this time I'm sticking to my guns on it.

It may seem like I haven't done much in the last 2 years if you simply read this thread. However, I have accomplished a lot outside of this community (with schooling, work, etc) that has put me into an excellent position to rejoin it, which I intend to do very soon.

any progress ont his ski?

I was trying to find the right stuff to finish up the exhaust and wasn't able to find anything for a while. #ZERO helped my find some of what I need. The one pic is of a 45 degree 2" - 2 3/8" silicone reducer that I can use to connect the pipe to the waterbox with. I just ordered the part, should be here in a few days. I'm still going to need to need to make an exhaust outlet of some sort and get hoses to go to it.

I haven't had much time to work on this project. I haven't been at work/school less than 70 hours a week for the last 2 years. Now that I've graduated I'm working 84 hours a week. A bit more time fixing the money problem, then I can fix the time problem.
