on the 87mm pistons do you need to do anything to the cases or will they clear everything?

jeff told me that on 87mm bore you dont need the pvs
what are you guys doing?
jason

I am running the gas valves..Havent run one without yet.

With 87mm pistons you will only need to knock off a small amount on the exhaust side of the case (i believe) ..just enough to allow the skirt of the pistons to come all the way down..You will realize what needs to be ground when you put a piston on without the jugs and. Im a total hack with a dremel and even i didnt mess it up.

Just out of curiosity... Can you use a stock pipe from the GP800 in a SJ or is it too big? I could see getting my hands on a beat up/blown GP800 ski but I couldn't see me trying to buy the motor and buying pieces from multiple different companies to make it work.

years ago i was gonna try it with a oem exhaust
the exhaust man hits the side of hull @ the hood seal
and with the slant of the side draft carbs theres no room for air filters

had a pickup go bad, still have it, not ready to let go of it yet

If you had a stock ignition right now and had to buy TL or Advent (based on what you know and have heard) which way do you think you would go? Im doing one or the other. I guess I like the idea of the alum flywheel and such with TL but if the advent gets me close then it sounds like the better play for me.

i cant really even give you advice on this one yet until i try the advent. The performance of the tl is very nice, however i always seem to have issue with tl.

It really was night and day difference when i took the total loss off the ski and went back to oem ignition, i didn't even want to run the motor after that

Thats great to hear...I mean it sucks that i have to spend the cash but nice to know there will be a big defference.

Do you still have the lightweight octane you built??

So how do you get it to 927, are they stock 800 cylinders re-sleeved or a different cylinder all together? How much more does the long block weigh then a 61x / 62t style platform?

To get to 927 you will need 87mm pistons. The cylinder will need to be bored and re-nikisiled. The cases, cylinders, head for the 800 actually weighs less than a lamey + cases 62T. The crankshaft is where the weight comes in. I weighed a CW 6mm stroker to my 800 and the 800 crank weighs 8 pounds more. I think if you could get CW to build a billet 800 crank the weight could come down a bit.

what prop/nozzle size/cone are you running in your 145?

Its a 16/19 long nose impeller...I am running the kat-trak trim system and I cannot remember what the nozzle is bored to....do you have a particular size you recommend?

If you have any interest in selling the octane hull let me know....My brother has a built up octane but its too damn heavy. Plus i know you do some damn nice work.
