Got some AJP 1200 tubbies. These look much better than any of the other tubbies I have seen by far. Very happy with them. Also sent the cylinders off a week ago to get bored, and the machinist is also supplying the pistons. So that should be back this week, now I am just down to a crankshaft and some Zeeltronics & we should be able to fire this bad mofo up! If anyone has leads on a 951 carb crankshaft, we need 2 of them! Lol

Got this thing over to my shop now so I can gel coat the bottom, zolatone the engine compartment, and get the top deck in primer

Engine compartment & backside of the hood is all sprayed, used some adhesion promoter, sealer, white base coat, and topped off with zolatone grey stone. I’ll lock it all in with a couple coats of clear in the morning.

Nice work on this. I raced with these engines for many years when they came out in 1998. Built a ton of race engines and quit counting the number of thousand dollar bills. As others have said water intake is going to be a big problem and with the mods to the exhaust you won’t get anywhere near the stock 130 HP. 100 maybe. So it won’t be a great racer.
With all the nice finish work this would be a great build to put a glass table top on and stare at it every night as a dinner table. Keep the project as a show piece built like a custom motorcycle so you don’t mess up your hard work. Looks like a fun fun build and great work by dad! Remember custom choppers don’t have to be functional race machines. Just make it look cool and start it up at Thanksgiving Dinner when the in laws are annoying the poop out of you. Ha!

I don't think he is going to lose 30HP , maybe 10 HP, I believe I saw an aftermarket head on post #81 , it's still going to be a whole lotta HP for an X2 !

Lmao the centerbleed exhaust isn’t going to lose any hp. It’s the same thing guys do in SXR’s when they do the 1100 swap. And not to mention we’ve punched this thing out to a 997, also has a rossier high comp head & electronic water injection. We’ve already got a solution for the water intake as I posted. My dad’s been building these since the late nineties as well, thanks for the advice smart a** but if you haven’t noticed, there’s not a single class this would qualify to race in. We built it cuz we can, and it’s gonna be fun & stupid fast lol. This would be the least cost effective race boat imaginable lol

You could race it in Sport GP. You’ll probably want to bring swim trunks and spare pistons. But it will be a good time.

This 148 pump and an 1100 does 61 mph. This 951 makes more hp than that will in a lighter boat. And I don’t care if it does 55mph. Still gonna be retarded for an x2
