i got my sides of the tray foamed and started shapeing theme, got the left side shaped the way i think ill like it, its basic nothing fancy, i got the left side done, then i messed the right side up took it down to far, so i had to poar more foam.
Thx yeah ill prob wait till after i paint, still lots more todo. Thx for hooking me up with chance. Were both pretty stoked theres some freestyle guys in the area. Getting him back in da game, hes been messing with drag cars
Well i got one side partialy glassed, and the bases glassed to tray, i had problems on the right side getting the glass to hold over the two part foam on the end where i wrapped it, i might have to redo it, im doing it different on the left side, i thickened some epoxy and covered the 2 part foam, and let it set up then roughen it up,
ive got one side complete, was my first time realy dealing with eglass its real pitta, i learned the hard way u need to use more than 2 layers of this crap, putting one layer on and not letting it setup good before u put cf on is a pain, had problems wrapping around these tight curves and edges ive got. but its finaly turning out ok.
this edge here is where i was realy haveing a problem laying down
these lil gems work wonders for getting all the airbubbles and excess resin outta glass, can get theme at oreilys for a dollar or 2 a piece and clean up nicely with acetone.
Next time you have trouble holding a piece like that down, wrap it with Saran Wrap and tape the Saran Wrap to the hull holding pressure on the piece. It's like poor mans vacuum bagging.
Cool ill have to try it, the cf i laid last night went down real good but was mostly flat, except where i had to wrap over top of hold, plus i set some heaters up around me, been cold here in the evenings
Heaters are great. You can point them at the glasswork to get the resin to kick as well. Yes I would try to squeegee out as much as you can without ruining the structure of the cloth in the process and then wrap with the saran wrap.
How did you draw out the areas your cut from the back of the hull? Im still trying to figure a way to make sure I cut each one the same, and straight. Build looks great, hopefully I can lay my glass down as clean as you are.
