Freestyle 96 rn winter build and nose job

been a while.

been a while since i posted anything got my sides glassed with 17 oz biax, along with pump cavity, added one layer of 17 oz to the nose foam. Gotta get going on this i ordered me a solas mag pump from manic, just need to order me some jetski clinic adjustable foot holds.

im getting there

I got the rest of the hull glassed under the tray area, just need to put one more layer of 12oz carbon fiber twill on the sides. trying to decide if i need to glass my bulkhead or not, and glass the ends up. ive done a lil stuff to nose still trying to figure out how to go about it, i may just end up poring some 2 part foam and shape it and glass it. couple of pics, in the pics of the solo cups, is this a good way to tell if u have good resin. lol

lol everytime i use us composites 3:1 epoxy resin in a gatorade bottle after about 10 minutes it starts smoking and melts the damn thing.. soo looks good to me!

No it's not... Its just a chemical reaction with the plastic...

I highly recommend NOT using Solo cups. You should at least use Dixie paper cups, or pay the extra penny per cup and buy the good ones meant for mixing.

The smoke/chemical reaction between the epoxy-resin and plastic cup ruins the resin mixture and it's pot-life (cure-time). When this happens, its like resin blood-clots when you lay-up. This can lead to extremely weak lay-ups because the resin is already pre-hardened and actually cures on the surface and not in the weave of the fabric.

My two-cents = Stay away from Plastic/Solo Cups. It'll save you sooooo much stress and pain later.

I got some cf layed to the sides, I was going to glass the bulkhead. decided not to im just gonna lay some 6" wide strips along the edges to try and seal it off good. I got my inserts removed for the pieces of hull i chopped. I decided to to cut the humps out that the inserts set in. I like yamaha idea on the certs, they set in a hex shaped thingy. i cut those out and thinned theme out so the serts would set at least half way through the hull. Im glueing theme in with some pc11 i got from ace not sure its worth a crap. i set theme in place and bolted the rideplate on to hold theme inplace as it cures. then im planning on popping the inserts out of the hex shaped thingy, throw some 3m 5200 in the hex set the inserts back in hex shapped thingy. to help seal theme off, then ill glass theme in, I have got me some goodies, i got me some billet drive couplers from epic industries, i ordered 2 of there scupper valves. but will prob just run one scupper pump dump. not sure if ill keep the extra scupper as a backup or sell it. I ordered a solas mag pump from manic, back in march still waiting on it to arrive, I ordered some ski clinic adjustable footholds. I got my polystyrene foam i messed up and got the 1 inch thick stuff, might get the thicker stuff but not sure, got some aluminum tubeing from lowes for cooling lines and a trim tube.

well i got the inserts installed, I thickened some epoxy up, put around the inserts and glassed theme with cf, Ive got my ends of the hull glassed in so far i got 3 layers on the outside , and 3 layers inside with 17 oz biax.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352569577.098609.jpg got my xscream handle pole in finaly waiting on xscream steering just waiting for ups, to finish there investigation to make sure it isnt up the st somewhere. Xscream has new one all boxed up for me they have been xscreamly helpful. Even filing the claim.

I'm doing the same thing to my round nose now. I appreciate the help with how you moved your ride plate nuts. How'd you do your exhaust? Is there any reason you did a side exit?

realy not for any special reason, i messed the stock exhaust flange up tryin to remove it, I had a 94 vxr pro, it had an exhaust flange with a 90 on it, glad i could of been some help.
