and I paid for my ski... FACTS man.... not opinion..

Alright, here's why I think people are wondering what's up ...

It's pretty well known that you had a WF hull ... which was a nice machine already, but you dumped that machine to get a Trinity, and a new engine from X-Scream.

You can't complain about the costs of the sport, and your inability to travel when you basically put yourself in that position ...

The machine you had was probably better, and more expensive than 95% of what everyone else has, but you decided to sink more money into a new machine knowing that it was going to put you in a hole ...

You had to know. You're not an idiot. I'm sure you can do basic math ... so knowing children were coming, and that the economy sucks ( especially in your industry ), it doesn't make a lot of sense to have upgraded from a kick-ass machine, to a super kick-ass machine.

I don't have any problems with you asking for donations ... that's all good, but you had to expect you'd get some blowback. If you didn't, that was pretty damn short-sighted of you.

You have a killer machine, and miles of riding skills ... but dude, your decision making process just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

If you're complaining about cost, and not having money in the bank ... you can't go out and buy a new boat and not expect people to wonder what's going on.

Thinking out of the box ...

Sell the Trinity to someone who can afford it, downgrade for now, and you'll have more than enough for a kick-ass machine ( maybe not as kick-ass, but more than good enough ) ... you also be able to travel to the event and compete, and still probably put a few grand in the bank.

Maybe you can work out a deal to get your old hull back? Or just ride a stock hull with a few lightweight parts ... drop in a decent 760, and you're good to go.

JK rode an OEM engine, I'm sure you can do the same.

If you really want to ride, do it in a way that you can afford to do it ...

usually when you ride for company(s), representing their products, being sponsored, you shouldn't have to come out of pocket ANYTHING to participate in competitions. your "sponsors" should cover the costs of you getting there, IF they want you representing their products at the event. you shouldn't have to "panhandle" to anyone but your sponsors to cover the costs. collectively, they should be the ones "worrying" about getting you there, accommodations, and getting you home. they can either afford it, or they can't, it's on them. you shouldn't have to sweat that stuff. if you have to resort to "panhandling" in order to participate, then you need to kick your sponsors in the 4ss and tell them what you need, if they want their products represented. not to mention the fact that whatever company is sponsoring you, shouldn't be charging you a single solitary dime to represent their equipment. you pay for it by using it and representing it at events.
also, you should be getting paid by them for representing their stuff, like a job.

:lmao: Funny stuff.

yep, very "funny stuff" matt.

also, the only thing you should have to "worry" about is doing what you do that got you sponsored, and showing everyone the products that you use to do it.

the way it SHOULD be, and obviously the way it's not.

look at nascar, do you think those drivers pay as much money as those cars cost to build in order to be driving the things? hell no, all of the companies' whos logo are painted all over the car, and then some that aren't, are the ones funding it. COMPANIES, NOT my bro from down the street....lol I'm sure jeff gordon doesn't have to resort to asking every single person he knows to cough up 5.00 here, and 10.00 there in order to race his car. and I know this stuff isn't anywhere near the sport nascar racing is, but business is business, and that's how that sport got to be what it is today, comparatively.

the only element(s) you personally should have to invest is your time, and skill.

like I said before, it needs to get better organized.

Did you really just compare Nascar to this "sport"? wow. that's a stretch. Nascar can sell out multi-millions of dollars worth of seats just to watch that "sport" not including all the crazy TV deals. I don't think you can compare the two even a little bit. What we do is a hobby. The best of us get a little help from the key manufacturers and builders in this "sport". The rest of us have to buy at regular price and try to work what deals we can on the side. I'm pretty sure you can't compare what we do to a sport that has well over a hundred million flowing around it. Be real here.......

yeah, and the guys pete rides for can shell out 2500.00 to get him to the show. if they can't, then they need to start thinking in "business" terms, and start putting money back for events in order to allow them to afford it. that's the only way this sport will ever grow like nascar has.
people are always saying poop like " this sport will never be as big as we want it to be" well who the hell ever told them that, other than their own closed minded way of looking at things? just like retro posted earlier, you have to think outside the box inorder to get things to happen sometimes, and this stuff has been "boxed up" for too damned long, IMO.

Really? So Bobby with Trinity who is just getting going with a bit of momentum can spare $2500 while paying for a shop and a bit of help while supporting a wife and two kids? I don't know what new formulas you have found for your math, but no-one here is making the $$$$$ to be able to just throw around $2500 or even close. Even those who have been around for years aren't exactly overflowing with money that they can't find ways to spend these days. If that was the case then maybe I could have talked my way into a free hull and engine........

probably not by himself, but him along with whoever else pete represents should all pitch in and cover his costs so he doesn't have to worry about anything but going out there and doing his damned job.

So pitching in to get someone riding a certain hull with a certain engine isn't enough? Dang dude. You want the sponsors to starve while the "riders" get a silver spoon and a free go at everything? Not everyone is made of money. ESPECIALLY in this day and age with not near as much expendable income as before. Your words are a bit like socialism.......sounds pretty good on paper, but works like $hit in reality.......What exactly is his "damned job"? This is a hobby. Not a job at all..... If competing was anyone's job then they would need one hell of a trust fund to make ends meet.

if pete represents this site, and this site has received funds from supporting members, then why isn't he slapping a big X-h20 sticker on his ski and getting part of his sponsorship support from the site? and not from panhandling individual members.

that's my point, it needs to be better organized...lol

I'm out bro, gotta hit the rack and work tomorrow.

peace.

here's some "hippie posers" to look at...LOL VVVVVVV

Is that a picture of a "mentally challenged" concentration camp or something? That's what it looks like to me after a couple....ok, several rum and cokes...... It isn't conveying the hardcore image that you might be going for.....
