Yes and no. If something fails at the water and everyone sees your new engine broken, they don't see your builder, they see a failed TPE engine. First impressions are everything. The reasoning is simply to try and maintain some quality control over a new product. There are some things that need to be checked that most average guys overlook (pressure testing, squish, rod clearance, etc. ). TPE wants to ensure the builder has the ability to verify these important items so that the engine delivers all the performance and durability it's designed to! I recently had a new top end from another vendor with new oem cases come in with a squish that would have caused an immediate failure. No one was at fault, but if it had not been checked, the engine would have failed.Everybody else sells top ends why did this stop? If my guy messes it up then its my problem no?
Like I said, contact via email. They want to be sure your stuff is done right and works well. If you have a reputable builder, they may sell you what you need.I was just wondering thats all, I was saving up for one of these before they pulled the top end option.
Affordable power- it came and it left
What does my builder have to show you to qualify?
I'd like to chime in on this. The reasons for stopping the idea of selling top end kits have been listed. We're not trying to insult anyone, just making sure that builds meet certain criteria. As for the WaveDaze top end, we will work out the details with the winner. The reason for the auction of the cylinder kit is to help Dan pay for some of the promotional aspects of WaveDaze. I want to help the sport as best I can, even if it means bringing in some riders who don't ride TPE (there are no sponsored riders), and I do enjoy watching TC ride, and others will get to ride with one of the best in the sport. It also promotes the sport and thats what matters. As for the "affordable power", well, these engines bring big power at a more affordable cost. Once again, not trying to insult, just trying to do it right and help grow our sport.
In my opinion, If the short block is all he offers that's the way it is. If you don't like it go buy another motor for the same price. Sorry to sound so bold, but people have to make some cash to make it worth while. $4,000+ - $5100+ is a pretty fair price. I'm not sure what the turn around rate is, but to me it sounds like a rider trying to help out other riders the best they can. I would love to see what TPE has to offer, try to keep positive if possible.
