Freestyle Affordable Power......... It's COMING

I cannot comment on power of a TPE, but I WAS very keen to buy one.
After repeated requests to Erik for deposit details and also a top engine builder delays and making changes to the cylinder, I went with a safer option of the DASA 1200. Looking at the 1200 I have to question how you fit a 95mm pistons in aluminuim 'sleeves' thick enough not to warp(look at 66E cylinders for comparison) on a 62T crank and still have space for transfer passages.
Erik might have found a way to perform magic but I am unfortunately skeptical

Yes there were a lot of production delays at the time that were unfortunately out of our control. We did not want to take any money at that point because we were unsure of when we could actually get product out the door. You made a good decision for your situation and got on the water with a proven engine. Sorry we could not get one of our setups out to you.

As far as design, yes, Erik was able to figure out how to make it work. Now that we're on track we'd like to invite you to try one out.

Thanks for the feedback

Now the above post is a great reply. Myself and others should take notice. Did'nt tear down, talk badly, or try to make someone feel like an idiot about purchasing another product just to promote "theirs". Lesson might be learned by some and ignored by others. Very tactful Chris, but it seems that the power plants don't need your help promoting themselves, owners speak highly of them.

With an investment casting you have a lot more options than pressing in a sleeve of one uniform thickness. I think the real magic here is in the way the transfers are cast. In theory you can cast the cylinder wall a little thicker at the transfer port areas. Hell you could even cast a radius on the inner portion where it is thicker to change flow and velocity characteristics of the port. (Air migration) try doing that with an iron sleeve. I don't know if any of the above is factual of a TPE enging. It's just me thinking outside the box. But I am certain there is more than enough cylinder wall thickness to survive.

I will see when the engine needs a rebuild, maybe by then TPE has a +16mm version that I can bolt onto my cases. Maybe something closer to a square bore/stroke ratio, maybe an 85 or 91 piston. I can see the triple exh port making lots of power so a smaller cc TPE should definitely make more power than a single port engine.

I'm defiantly excited to get our 1105. It seems wi is becoming a hot spot for skis so we should have some good comparisons. I have a PHP 898 to compare back to back to. Should be a fun summer

no comparison really limited slip 7 ' S 1105 hits way harder than my 898 and that 1105 was untuned and a b pipe. I can't wait to see what it will do tuned. We are both heading over to Phil clemons this weekend for a tune session.

Agreed with the first part Wanderer1, others (like Zack Bright) on here should take notice and learn how to construct a professional response. I have been interested in this motor since the initial debut. I talked to Todd at WF about it and have been following this thread. But I have to be honest and I'm not being negative, but I haven't read a truly unbiased review yet. The only one that comes close is Mindless and I'm not sure if he's getting any love from them or not? I'm sure their engines make great power because I trust SM and Todd's opinions. It would be great to hear it from someone outside the circle.

Just curious how they are biased reviews. Are they biased because there are no cons listed?

Not at all, I'm happy to see a new technology succeed, especially in our small sport. I will probably be a future customer. It just seems like there are people that will trash talk every other manufacturer out there to validate their own decision and investment. Honestly, once someone does that, their opinions are worthless to me. I just want to see a normal working guy like me buy one, set it up, ride it and give an honest opinion.

I've keep pretty quiet in this thread as we've been tuning our first TPE motor for that past few days and didn't want to post anything until we were finished tuning.

We're running a TPE1021 4mm stroker with bpipe, 148 mag, dasa 48's, hx3, pump gas in a Rickter Evo. We've got this ski 90 percent dialled in and all I can say is this is one of the torquiest pump gas small stroker's I've ever ridden. The ski rips through out the entire power band. We currently running a Skat D75 12-17 impeller with a 5mm cutback with a medium cone and 86mm bore.

My opinion may be biased as I'm a Canadian TPE and Dasa dealer. However, I will say this, you can't go wrong with any of these motors. The TPE motors have there place and so do the Dasa's
