There is so much opinion on foaming vs none.l am a no foam guy,but l try make sure that the area below the tray is airtight or close.Always a controversial subject with riders. But if my ski did sink l won't whine about it

Thank you for your concern. I was just asking opinions on ride quality difference not if my ski will sink or not(I'm not stupid) where I ride it's 10 ft deep at the most. i think I'll be able to find it.

LOL...my ski has no foam, no firewall, and no bilge pump! And after riding it for the past 2 months and beating on it, I dont feel nervous at all. It hardly takes on any water, and the versiplugs do their job. (However, I also dont intend to ride it in the surf, and if I did, I would add a bilge pump. But I still wouldnt be too worried about it..

When did I ever ask about sinking or donations for parts after I sink it.

It was a joke, based on past threads where people lost their skis and a friend came here asking for donations on the lost ski owners behalf.

I've only ridden one ski without foam, a viper, I wouldn't have known if I wasn't told, and that ski has since sunk and is gone.

Thank you for the input. The only deep water I plan on hitting is daytona once a year. I'm going with a good bilge and have a versa but it sure if I am going to run that or just the bilge.

My chan has no foam as well, very torn about that and am on the fence about cutting it open this winter and adding foam. If you do decide to add foam, do not use two part pour foam, do not use foam in a can and do not use ping pong balls.

What foam would you add them? I'm hoping with a good bilge I'll be fine. Putting a scupper or a versa in the hull scares me a little.

Remember a versi-plug only works under water. If your ski flips up-side-down, it's a vent to let all of the air keeping your hull floating.

Skis don't sink with you riding them. They sink when the surf nags it.

I almost lost my x2 once. I took the foam out of the hood to clearance my pipe. I was at the brink, wind ripples lapping over the bottom deck, completely submerged. It still had foam on the back and it went down fast. Not a feeling I ever want to experience. Back the , relatively speaking, my $1500 x2 with several hand made mods felt like losing a $20k ski.

Why no pinp pong balls, did that idea FAIL ?

I don't think u will notice a ride difference, for me it would depend on how much money tied up in ski and where I ride. Chances r slim of finding a sunk ski in the great lakes.. If I build my aquabot that has no foam it won't be getting my 1105 motor

I foamed the circus I'm building just out of the pure fear of losing the thing in some horrific accident. Had to help rescue a buddy's sinking Circus last summer - not something I'd like to experience again.

Even if the hull is punctured or for whatever reason my versiplug max gets stuck open and the bildge can't handle it, the thing will still be neutrally buoyant enough for me to hold it up.

I threw what I could of some round nose foam into the nose of the thing too. Polystyrene in the bottom deck, 2 part US composites 2lb polyurethane in the top deck.

Its maybe 3-4 extra pounds, and some sweet, sweet relief.

That's like trying to prevent you from posting this useless comment.

I hope I didn't offend you. I was just joking around. I know I walk along the line being offensive sometimes.

I also know that everyone will agree I often don't know when to keep my mouth closed.

I can't imagine running a ski with no foam, especially you guys with big money AM hulls and stuff. You are basically asking to lose your ski. Why not just park it on the side of the road and put a 'Free' sign on it?

@bach6177

Foam dude, foamit, fowmit, put foam everywhere, in your shoes, fill your ears with foam, fill your pole with foam, just order 10 gallons of 2 part foam and pour it in the engine bay, you wont even need a hood! Infact, you could install your engine and pump in a pool noodle, that thing will never sink!

Maybe the next AM hull company will make a hull out of pool noodles for us, I mean, there seems to be a need, the freemarket demands that this need be filled! Filled with foam at that!

P.S. I typed up an intelligent response, but deleted it, it wont be long till the rest of the foam police arrive and further drive home the point that you need to foam your hull. If you ask me though, you don't need foam, run it like it is, run it hard, and when it sinks, build another one in its place.
