Got some ride time on the ski yesterday... Surf was very rough not good to be testing a new ski, but I couldn't wait to ride it in the surf... Ski is a lot of fun and the power is so perfect, this 900 is hitting great...

Things I have to address...

Left turn bog due to exhaust exit.... Not as bad as some hulls I rode, but it will bog if you turn left. I'm going to machine some PVC and extend the outlet 1 in to fix the problem....

Needs a longer ride plate for surf, right now it's flush which is great for flatwater but not so good for surf. Plan is to make one that's extended 3 in

Footholds need some work, I like to kick in and be locked.. These holds you kick in and it hurts.. No pad on the hold or the tray. Going to remove the holds and tray turf, add 25 mil pad in the footwell area and add a rear kicker lip. I ride left foot forward for surf stance, I plan to cut the front of the left foothold off about 3 in. This will give more room for my left foot and will help me not to land on the foothold.. Did that and it sucked...

Next I will add some turf to the footholds so it's nice to kick in....

Finally plan to add some turf / pad to the firewall at the 45 deg angle.. That's right where your knee hits in surf stance stuff.....

Pics to come!

Is this problem exclusive to the xfr/xfs? Read a few threads about them having this problem.

Beautiful ski, nice build man!

I saw where one guy had this issue on a Gen 2 BOB.
You probably don't need to worry about it Kenny. Turns out it happens only in the water.

Yes that's correct above water spraying at the exhaust... The first Xfs was really bad, mine wasn't as bad but I won't have a ski unless it's perfect... Here's the fix

Took some 2 in PVC , turned down the OD to fit the exit pipe, then ported the inside so there's not much lip so no restrictions, I also used a belt sander to angle the PVC at exit point, glued in , painted black

Next on my list was remove junk RRP slick, not enough pad turf! Also cut the left foothold so it's 1.5 in shorter for more room riding left foot forward surf stance... Next glassed 2 inserts for strap, installed 25 mil pad... Tomorrow I will turf

Also got a Blowsion glass ride plate from Lucas , drilled some new holes, cut 3 in off of it... This should really help this ski in the surf... if it feels like the right length I'll make one from carbon or paint this one... Not much into the green on my red and white ski...

That's a nice stetup and I'm sure youl get the bugs worked out soon . I am having a hard time following how turning left is sending water up the exhaust outlet . Where is this water supposed to be coming from? What am I missing here?

I had a hard time with the theory as well until I did the same mod. I also tried an OEM sj reduction nozzle with oem steering and the problem went away. The best i can tell the water is back flowing as pictured below. With the extended outlet the problem is solved.

If your going to run aftermarket trim / steering nozzle this is something that has to be done... Gotta remember there's a lot of thrust coming out of these pumps...

I think it will be much better once I get the bored steering nozzle..

Got the turf done, strap installed, also added some 25 mil pad on top of the left foothold... Last time out I landed on that left hold and man my foot hurts... I still need to trim it but pad is good!

Got some more time on the ski... Really think the new nozzle setup will help alot, going to swap that today... The ski got some flatwater action yesterday ... Even with the extra long ride plate, backflips , rolls, under flips no problem.... Motor rips and pulls this ski around like nothing..

This 900 (896cc) motor in a freak or Lenzi would be the perfect competition ski for the 900cc or less class...

Anyone thinking about building or buying a SS motor should call Brian at Thrust first, this motor is close in price and the power is unreal .... Gotta talk to Brian about the internal details...
