i seem to have heard about a few people using some kind of plastic balls (cant remember) instead of foam. is this true? how safe is it? are we taliking like ping pong balls? i thought about packing peanuts or maybe a ton of fishing corks. (just kidding on those last two) anyways, it would be nice not to have to deal with foam.

mcmastercarr has some balls that might work. If I ever refoam the bottom I am going to stick something like that in there with drain plugs on both sides.

I use dead armadillos.

I figure I would rather have a ski that floats than a garage that doesn't smell of putrification.

What about a custom inflatable bladder? Or just some punching bag bladders or something similar.

Speed bags use a small inflatable bladder.

Yeah... that's a great idea and I was thinkin' the same thing.

You could fill them up with helium or hydrogen and hope for the best.

Most likely get ripped on but......What are the logistics of sealing up everything and pressurizing it? If you glass over the two holes the factory uses to fill with foam and then drill a small hole and throw in a valve stem. Just an idea, maybe some day I'll try it on a JS hull or something free.

I suggested that years ago, everyone made fun of me.

haha

a bladder, with a shrader ( tire fill) valve and a pressure guage.

hook it to air hose, fill it to 20 PSI or whatever.

you can check the guage to make sure its holding ( you have safe flotation if its holding Pressure)

and you can deflate/remove and reinforce or do whatever you need inside.

a truck innertube, or something similar, with a heavy canvas bag or something, or heavy rubber bag.
