not to say that it is good, I think its pretty ugly myself. I just didnt feel like cutting out ''perfect'' pieces of cloth when it was all gettin covered like u said.

it never looks good when youre laying down cloth. I'm sure it looks better than 90% of the foothold installs, but like you said who cares it gets covered up anyways.

turfing is where time should be spend. a guy on the boards (crammitt442) helped me turf or should I say pretty much turfed my ski and it looks awesome.

there are no cuts in the turf. it's also molded using heat. even the rail caps dont have cuts.

Agreed! turfing is where the time should be spent.
I am proud to say I helped Superramjet turf the R.E.V. hull, with no cuts inside the footholds. Heat gun and an extra set of hands is where its at!

then go for it. i thought you were suppose to drill them out and fill with west and 404 and lay another layer of glass. over the holes

just another place water can get in there down the road.

its probably over kill though.

should be fine.

looks good can't wait to get mine installed

Looks good, I see you used normal glass across the footholds, are you just going to keep laying that up or did you get other stuff?

By the way what kind of rivet gun did you use? I was going to go that route but decided not to because Ive never used one and didnt know how easy or hard it would be.

rivet guns are very easy to use and they aren't expensive.

Won't that paint on your holds stop the turf from sticking (grey ones). If the paint peels, so will the turf???

BTW, two nice installs!!

the grey is an epoxy prime over the glass and resin base that was sanded with multiple stages starting with 36 and ending with 100 before priming. as long as the paint has a solid base to stick to and you have all the areas sanded you shouldnt have a problem. ill show pics of our buiild later :sneaky: those we put in were on a 06 SJ.
your install looks great :arms: , i just spend the time making it as smooth as as possible for the best contact with the turf, to have less problems later

When you guys turf your SJs without a kit, how do you cut the shape for the line where the rail caps used to be? Do you glue it down up to that point and cut the excess off or pre cut it?
