So I see a lot of strong and legitimate negative opinions here after the fact yet I don't recall anyone warning others of this crap before. That is garbage for sure. X users need to whip some balls out once in a while and tell some truths about products. THANK YOU OP! It was on some list somewhere to eventually try one of these...

I get sick of hearing this we are a small community crap sometimes....who cares.....the truth shall set you free....(and save some of us from pure pure garbage).

So the Ballistic looks like the exact same garbage! I am sooo glad I waited on these and listened to the Deka ETX pepes....great battery. (I once thought I killed one last Winter by leaving it sit out....but it was my starter...so now I have 2 great Dekas.)

There are plenty of documented failures and warnings previously posted. This is just the first time someone was pissed off or curious enough to void the warranty and actually open one up.

I thought I was losing a few of my ETX9's recently as well but I actually found that my positive battery lead was corroded end to end. A few are weaker than others but they all crank good now.

You are right....I just searched and found some I had missed.

Very very good to see them cut open though.....all doubt is GONE!

I would like to see a Deka ETX cut open to compare...but both mine are good!

I was going to start a thread about this, but I'll say it here first. PHP has been working with Ballistic for the last year to improve the quality of jetski batteries. They are built 5 minutes from us. We have done destructive testing on all of the top brands and I can tell you Anti Gravity is the.... well lets just say they are not the best. Ballistic is now making batteries especially for PHP to endure the rigors of TL and slamming in the bottom of a jet ski hull. With all of the failures - and believe me, we have trashed older ballistics within a couple days, we were not about to make the announcement until we knew they would hold up. The cell connection bars are completely different as well as the fastening to the cell from standard. The seal on the battery case is also bulletproofed. They did not experience the kind of failures we did in the jetski world in any other power sports. The slamming on the bottom of the hull coupled with submerging in a freestyle hull was a unique challenge. Need a light weight battery? give us a call.

How long have you tested these new batteries? And, how many? I'd really like to see the internals and exactly what was changed as far as the known problem areas.

There's 2 obvious failure points here:

1. The cases aren't water tight. They are simply not sealed adequately for our specific needs.

2. The spot welds and method of connecting the individual cells together is a complete joke. It looks like some farsighted high school kid with some tin foil and a $3.00 soldering pen did the assembly.

If you guys have addressed these issues that's great...kudos to you.

However, there's a 3rd issue at play here. The individual cells aren't properly constructed and sealed.
Look again at the corrosion on just about every cell on my 4 month old battery. That's not just water damage. Many of those cells were flat out leaking.

You can address the shoddy case sealing and method of connecting the cells all you want. But, what about the construction of the actual cells themselves? That's a deal breaker for me, no matter how I look at it.

I've spent a lot of money on keeping my boat as light as possible. So, I'm not thrilled about throwing a lead/acid battery back in there. But, enough is enough. I'm not guinea pigging any more of these things.

I just melted a etx9 by letting a wrench get on top of it in a wagon I was dragging stuff up from the lake with. I may cut it up but the gel is toxic, right?

I'd be tempted to open a brand new one and seal it properly before using it, use some 1211 on it? Maybe add some dielectric grease to prevent corrosion? I'll stick with my $65 7lb etx-9.

Good questions. What can be done to make the one I have last a bit longer? It's been in the water once and came on a ski I just bought.

Actually I was thinking it might not be too bad to rebuild these. All you'd need is a part number for the cells and a soldering gun. Dielectric grease and seal it up tight. No warranty to void on the old battery taking up space on your shelf.

Regardless of it's inner construction, would be real cautious about cutting up any battery.

Aquapsyco, while a very intelligent lad, doesn't seem to appreciate his phalanges, I admire his tenacity towards his frustration, but I am focused on the "Dremel" tool in the background and shudder to think of that tool at full song cutting through the battery case.

Ya, the ballistic looks easier to get into than the antigravity. I wonder where the water is leaking in. By the terminals?

WOW, my Shoia lasted 2 cranks under 220 compression big bore , Literally 2 CRANKS and it nearly cought fire.
If you are gonna use LI use WPS same crap but half the price. AGAIN, SAME CRAP, just half the price.

Im running a Shoria right now after my antigravity took a dump,we will see if it lasts? if it sucks i might be done too . my deka was good . Quite a few paper weights last season ,the whole lith-ion technology is a super delicate maintenance pain in the ass..

Well thanks to anyone dissecting and exposing this pure garbage.....it seems all of the lightweights are worthless garbage...

I have been shaking my head since these "lightweight batteries" surfaced....... I just cannot see spending $200+ on something that can and will croak at any minute......... I have a 10 year old jetworks that still would work in a pinch, it will not hold a deep charge anymore, but could get me by. I have an unbadged jetworks/powersonic that Parrdaddy gave me that was used by him for 2 seasons, I have had it for 3 seasons, it is finally starting to not hold a strong charge. These are $100.00 batteries that last. Yes, they are heavy as crap........... I will be ordering a battery soon, just cannot decide ETX 9,12 or 14...........

Here's what's in the boat, now. It's a 7 pounder, so the weight penalty over the AntiQuality isn't too bad. I did have to remove one of tray tabs on my Cold Fusion micro tray to make it work. It's still securely mounted, though.

I'll report back in 6 months on how this battery holds up.

Terminals and Balancer Port!

Iam building my own Batterie tomorrow.

I Bought 20 A123 Cells, and used 4 of my broken Ballistic.
So i can build 2 -> 12 Packs.

I will CnC a Case nearly same as Ballistic, but i can open and close it like i want. So, if any Cell fail, i can change them easy.

So i build 2 Batteries for about 100 Dollar.
Just get the A123 Cells cheap, and put it together by yourself.
U cant do it worse then Ballistic and the other guys...
