anyone built a good ramp to get some air for a standup ski ?plans?

surf has been flat forever and riding flats is lame for me in 5 min, thought maybe a ramp would be fun.The ramp malone had in his vid looked entertaining. Seems if you could find some kind of very flexible plastic sheathing and run the cross beams of the ramp in a slight V shape it might contour to the ski a little better as you go up the ramp?
how big to make the ramp and how many barrels to float it would be the first logical ?

What kind of hull do you have? In my opinion you will do some sort of damage to your hull. I don't know about the v shape design, I think that may be over thinking it. I like how Eric's ramp had some "curve" to it.

Use the flat days to practice other tricks that don't require getting air.
Like barefooting, fountains, tailstands, etc.

The most stress to the ski is going to be right where/when it meets the ramp. Perhaps extending the ramp below the waterline and start at a gradual grade and become relatively steep towards the end.

Reinforced hulls recommended I think.

600 now,but i limit my time in them in hopes of keeping my lic and insurance, its a cool summer night thing,I need something to do on hot summer days, and this flat water shizz is to lame for me to get enough motivation to even take the ski out of the garage.
Non of our hulls are pretty girls so its no biggie,I deff want a ramp with some transition in it,but making the cross beams in a slight v will help the sheathing give to the shape of a sj hull.

The comment about the ramp being rough on hulls has nothing to do with looks. Malones Octanes that he used in the Rampt videos (and lustic's octane) were trashed, cracked and slap wore out afterwards.
When you hit the ramp, you loose all control of your ski, your just along for the ride.

Just being along for the ride would be fun I'm thinking
If your worried about loosing control. Remember the fast you hit the ramp the less time you will be without control lol

How far are you from your water? Might be a good idea to build it onto a trailer. This way you can transport it easy. Aluminum to be light and not rust. You want it to be long so you can get enough final height but not have to crazy of an angle. I can get you dimentions of what we use in some shows. However our designs are flawed. No "curve", and slightly too much angle. What ever you use to cover the ramp, apply it when your in the middle of your highest and lowest temp. you think the ramp will see. This way the surface does not crack from getting to cold and shrinking, or getting too hot and expanding to were their are big gaps. Or take the $1000 to 4000 and buy a BIG engine...

Any pics or videos?

bk,dude did you see the stupid shizz they were doing to their skis to beat the crap out of them,it wasnt from just going up the ramp,I disagree that ramps are gay, flat water is gay and ramp is the only thing that can save it from boredom. If your trying to spin inverts you may be out of control but big huge stabs look very controlled to me amongst other tricks.
We have a private lake we could leave it at permanent, might have to pull it back to the dock a few feet at the end of the day.so no transport issues.anyone know of any plastic type sheathing out there that would give and last on this kinda ramp?
Andrew, not really interested in a wedge ramp, but id like to see some vids of what you can do off them for sure.Id think a little transition would be perfect, but not so much that the entire ski wouldn't be on the ramp the whole time,it would have to be a long slow transition

boat to me is break out another thouasand, and I have enough expensive toys.they are boring also, only interest I have in a boat is 2 wakeboard boats to form a v wake, now if we could just get enough expendable $ to buy them lol

Go to "Andrew Puco Sumo" on youtube. I think thats it, youtube is blocked here. I have a video of one of the ramps there. I cant do much off the ramps. Most important it just to get over it with out cracking the hull. haha I'm currently at a new show, the ramp is the same angle but it is longer therefore the final height is higher.

We've poached water ski ramps before, fun but not fun at the same time.

It would be hard to design a ramp with good amplitude and doesn't beat your hull to hell. You'd need some sort of shock absorbtion for inital contact with the ramp. Those ramps that malone was using were ghetto.

Once you hit the ramp, you loose all control. many of the nose stabs that malone and lustic were doing were nothing more than getting the ski to start sliding side ways up the ramp.

There is no control. But hey, go for it.

People who only mainly ride in the surf and bitch about flat water are just as gay.
