I just got my carbs back from Art.

I was really hoping they would be sporting a friggin sweet BLACKJACK ring around them but he said he doesn't do that with the SX-R carbs. He leaves the tops stock so the OEM intake can be used without the trumpets.

They are 46mm taperbored to 40mm (stock). I'll be running Tau Ceti tops.

I run the wet pipe with the NOVI 42's and as long as you find the right tuning on your carbs and your pipe you won't lose the top end speed. it's just finding a happy medium between the pipe and carb tuning.

I had an issue today at my test-and-tune with loading up badly on the bottom.

Art had it jetted at 82.5/155 with 2.5 N&S and 95g spring.

I have always kept my idle low and so when I got the carbs installed, the first thing I did was drop the idle from Art's 1200rpm setting to about 300.

I spoke with Gil at length tonight and he explained that lowering my idle raised my manifold pressure creating a rich condition. Thanks to Gil for all the help, btw.

I'm going to drop to a 2.0 N&S, 80g spring, 80 pilots, raise my idle to about 1000rpm and head back out. Hopefully, I'll have somewhere near a 22-25 psi popoff.

The water was 55 degrees. Brrrrrr.

No way I would think about completely rejetting without talking to the BJ wizard himself. Especially not something like changing the needle and seat.

With these aftermarket carbs... Any of them, once you start doing what you think is right, you most of the time find yourself in the crowd of people screaming

"My ______ (Novi/ FS/ BJ/ ect..) were hard as crap to tune in. They sucked because I couldn't get them to work right."

Just work with Art. Yall will get it right.

If I were you, I would talk to Art and see what he recommends. Just a thought.

Why did you not like how they came set up?
was it just the high idle?
I would NOT re-jet without talking to the man that built them

I may be out of the loop, but whats the scoop on these BJ carbs.

They seem more popular recently.

Performance vs other carbs?

Is it more of a performance bargain or a hot setup?

Thanks dudes for the info! :Banane35:
