What does "Dealer" include? Who qualifies? OCD Solutions creates + sells cool electronics and other misc items. #0 offers various services. SnowXR and his products. I making limiting ropes + other lines. Do we all qualify as dealers?

if your selling new products then i would say yes

You could also do something along the lines of say maybe having twenty people here that have had good dealings with the potential seller vouch for them before they can be admitted as a dealer, chances are if you have that many good deals and twenty people that will vouch for you, you are fairly legit. For someone like OCD solutions that shouldn't be a problem.

Nah, that goes against what everyone here wants to do. Your talking about good sellers. Everyone else is talking about dealers. Dealers sell the same products again and again.

I am referring to cases like OCD or some of the other guys who sell the same products every time but may or may not be doing it under a business license .

this started off as a seperate section for manufactures, anyone making their own product is a manufacturer

once you start making exceptions then there is no point

do what PWC and Green Hulk do. works nice, can find boats, parts fast and easy, dealers charge fee and give them a icon in their profle that will show on all their adds and postings. As far as space get rid of some of the other stuff. Look at you stat's and take out the least used.

thats my 2 cents!

I say learn to search and leave the forums the way they are. If I go away for a weekend and come back, there is maybe 1 page or 2 pages max of new posts in the "Stuff for Sale" section. I would say the times when it's 2 pages is because one guy decided to make 10 posts for 10 parts instead of 1 post for 10 parts. I'd be all for making those guys consolidate their threads if it starts to exceed 5-10 posts at a time. How long does it really take to scan the new threads? 20-30 seconds a page? Takes half of that time just to back up and go into a different forum.

Splitting threads reduces visibility which then reduces effectiveness. How many times have you just been "looking" and saw the deal of a lifetime that you couldn't pass up? So you're looking for a pipe for your current ski but you run across a ski like yours that already has a pipe and a few other goodies for not much more than you were looking to spend. You don't find that kind of stuff if you are in the "parts" forum. Let's also not forget that there are tons of threads that started out as "ski for sale" and a few weeks later turned into a "part out" thread. Logically, you would abandon that thread and move into the "parts" forum but that probably wouldn't happen. For higher visibility you'd keep the old thread alive and post a new one in the other forum which just spams up everything.

I always hated the fact that flatwater and freeride got split up. It's not like there are many posts in either of those forums anyway. I ride flatwater mostly and before I could at least glance over the threads I didn't care about or read the ones that were for freeride that might help me be more educated in the salt. Now I just read flatwater only and learn nothing about freeride because 1 in 20 times I would go into that forum, there would be nothing that would apply to me.

This makes no sence to me. before you had 200 posts to read in one section now you hav 100 in each of 2 sections but your saying you dont read them because they are no longer together. is it to much work to click the mouse one more time..
People that dont want to waste time scrolling through something that is no interest to them do not need to

just like your anallogy of the looking for a pipe,if you think you may want to buy a whole ski to get a pipe then look through the ski sale section and you will just have to look through the kawi section if so desired

I have one for sale. New 2010 GF hifi deluxe 29er for $1700.

Can I have my own forum for selling mountain bikes? Some times I part them out. How about a separate forum for that? Sometimes I manufacture lies about my mountain biking exploits. Does that qualify me to be a dealer? Can I get a forum for that too?

jk except I really am selling the bike.

I'd be happy just to see the filters in the search function like there used to be. You could search in just one section or multiple at once. I don't want to start anything but I believe the other site is still set up like that...but that is where my envy ends.

To search individual sub-forums (only one or multiples, your choice):
Click Advanced Search -> Search Single Content Type
Under Addtional Options, select the Forum(s)

I think the confusion is coming from the software defaulting to the "Search Multiple Content Types" option, which is useless.
