I haven't followed this build thread but I was able to try this boat and was very impressed with the whole setup. Also rode near John in the surf for a few sets and saw a couple flips. He definitely didn't look like be was getting beat up too bad, looked like he was enjoying himself.
John, nice meeting you and thanks for the ride.

I rode it this weekend also and was very impressed with the setup as well. A true budget a/m build that can flatwater flip and rip surf back to back.

Short video from today's ride. The weather was beautiful and the water looked like a mirror.

I love this chan. Jetmaniac motor that pulls hard when it's supposed too. Short flippable hull that tracks like a race ski. I enjoyed riding it last weekend horndoggy!! Thanks again for letting me ride your skis man. Beautiful ski in person!

Just wanted to update my build a little. This maniac motor runs so perfect right now. I swapped the oem 38 carbs and intake for an old set of full spec 44s/riva intake/vf2 reeds. I've ridden several big motors in the past few years but this thing still impresses me.

It's an antigravity. I installed it in June last year after two ballistics failed. No problems so far. I've never even charged it.

Can you share how you made that plate for the ebox? I'm about to start working on mine and like what you did.
I had a thin piece of carbon I cut from the tray of another ski. Made it thicker by wetting out a few layers of carbon twill on either side. Put it all between two layers of wax paper, then between two hard flat surfaces. Then I put weights on top of it and went to bed. I used aluminum blocks drilled and tapped on the sides to attach my ebox but they got loose and stripped a few months later. So now I have to use a backing nut and it's a pain. epoxy stainless t-nuts to the back or better yet slide bolts through from the back and you have studs to slide the box on like oem. Add a few nuts on each side for ebox spacers. I attached it to the hull using thickened epoxy. The bottom rests on a small ledge on top of the bulkhead. The plate contacts the hull down the center and across the bottom so I applied the epoxy in an upsidedown "T" shape on the back and smooshed it in. My dash wasn't thick enough to install a hood latch so this ebox plate killed two birds with one stone. Hood latch held it in place while it cured.

so the 44's were much better that the 38s? I have always ran 44s on my 781, but was curios to see what the 38s felt like. But sounds like I dont need to.
