I recently put a deposit on a Backie Chan and have started piecing parts together. My question is I am not sure witch x metal poll to go with. Were do you have yours adjusted to? Scared if i get the comp poll it will suck cruising around.

Horne mentioned to me that at first blush the comp pole seemed too short, but he's a lil' fella (5'8" I think) so I don't know if that is part of the issue. He mentioned that he found the short pole to be useful for tricks, but it would wear on his back during cruising.

Since he's had more time to ride he might have different info to share.


BTW, Stop holding out on us Horne... share your vids damnit!

i had a short pole on my rn. probably around a -6 mabey. the bars were right at the hood latch for reference. my xm comp pole fully extended was only about 2" shorter than the rn pole.
i wouldnt hesitate on getting the comp. the standard seems like it would be way long

I'm No pro.. actually I can barley ride but in 6'2 and I like the comp pole all the way out for cruising around with a +3 plate and when it flush plate I like pole all the way in just help you get the nose down better and ride more aggressive

I am 5'10" and I have a longer pole than most other short ski riders. It's perfect for cruising around but I might need to shorten it once I'm 100% healed and start trying flips.we'll see...

My chan is almost done and I actually got to ride one last week and all I can say is wow!!! After riding it, even with a short pole, I am very eager to finish my build because it was a blast to ride. Id see no problem rec riding this ski around. It is very comfortable and felt very very stable for what it is. And not sure if everyone is aware but X Metal makes three different size pole. The standard, Medium, and Comp pole. I went with the medium pole on my chan only because my girl will be riding it a lot and she will be cruising around on it. I myself tend to have a longer pole on my skis but I think the medium pole is going to work well for her and I. If I was building a Chan strictly for flatwtaer, then no doubt would I be going with the comp length pole. It looks short as hell when installed but when riding it all just plain works.
