backie chan new new builder?

Im not hating. Just my opinion. Its good that companies release products like this. It helps show the cost of quality. You really do get what you pay for. If your looking for a budget hull that needs work this is it. If you want a professionaly built hull i would look elsewhere. I guess im dissapointed more than anything. Steve made an awesome hull and i wish ff put it together better.

this was my point earlier that i got flamed for. i dont expect a budget hull to look amazing. and i could care less about a pretty engine bay.

If its not constructive criticism, it's hating. Bottom line. Tons of haters on this site. From the broke dicks that can't afford anything, to the 50 yr olds having their 2nd mid life crisis. Just hatin, like always. Hell I've got haters I've never even met, it means you doing something right.

What does one expect for 3500 bucks? Do the math and figure out the time your paying for. Then figure in your lack of skill. Then figure in materials. Your getting a bargain. I could buy a hull working my normal job, in less time than I could make mold and a hull. That's the goal for most builders.

Many super nice hulls out there. Many. None are close to the cost of these chans. Anyone who says differently hasn't gotten the right quotes to their door, or maybe the builders I hit up marked up the price for me. I've looked at all of them, and gotten quotes to my door.

Some people don't want to throw 10 or 20gs at a ski. They don't need people at the lake to think they are cooooooooool. I'd feel like a lame dick if I had that much money tied up in a standup. I mean shiat, if that's your priority in life, then hell Yeah right on man. Stick it in the back of your lifted cummins with flip out mirrors when you tow your ghost trailer. But don't think That gets you any real respect. The people on is site that actuall offer helpful respectful information are the real people helping progress our sport. Thank you to those.

I'd buy one of these if I was still looking for a flat water ski. I'm prob gonna buy a new rickter this offseason, since surf is just sooooomuch better anyways, and I'll already have achan and phantom.

Carry on.

Who is this spark plug guy that found it necessary to stero type every member of the x?
While I agree with you on ghost trailer tow mirrors from the cummins fan boys and the fact it is a good price for what you get. However, the rest of your post is pretty arrogant. Don't start telling people they shouldn't spend money for the sport they enjoy or that they are doing it just to be cool!

Also have you checked eme fr series, they are in the same price range and a much nicer quality finish (yes I ride an eme but I am not sponsored or get anything from them to offer a suggestion/comparison).

I'm nobody. Stereotypes have a reason. This site is full of haters. Some are the exception. Don't worry about it too much. It's just the Internet.

My point exactly. Arrogance or just plain internet cowboy....

I wouldn't say the site is full of haters. Most of us just are expressing our opinion good or bad with the common goal of expanding our sport.

I don't want to get in a debate with you spark plug so take it or leave it. Just wanted to get the right message across.

Back on topic. IMO price is right for the ff bc, but if I were buying one I'd want lighter and prettier. The hulls do ride sweet.

Haters make me famous..
And the ones who get no respect are the ones who buy/build high dollar carbon hulls who can't really even ride them.. With motors that cost more then a modded SJ.
And even if they are one of those guys who try and buy their talent and balls, Don't piss on their parade... Cause us "peasants" of the sport as we've been called will prolly buy their ski for half the price when they go back to riding quads..and razors..

DIY inserts? Is that normal? I honestly don't know.

That little karate guy on the flyer cracks me up a little though lol.

I think I maybe would have left the hood on. Bolted it down or something.
I guess since I didn't see it in person it's not fair to judge it too harshly. But yeah I would have thrown some black dye in the resin for the engine bay. Especially for my display boat at WF.

I guess you can give them props for not covering up or sugar coating anything? It's like "Hey, this is a entry level hull. What you see is what you actually get."

Is that how they make them? I didn't know you could even do that. How did you find this out? I thought they said the hull is hand laid.

Ya, they are hand laid. I stopped in their booth and checked em out and that is what Greg Brock told me. One hull there was 100 lbs. and the other was 110.

You can use a chopper gun to spray chopped glass on pretty much any mold if you want, its just not very strong and has a lot of air pockets.

It's difficult to tell from that picture, but it doesn't appear to be chopper gun laid. Or at least the top layer looks to be a woven glass. I could be wrong, picture isn't great. Even for an entry level boat, I wouldn't expect chopper and if so, I would expect much higher weight to get the strength needed.

For what they are charging, I think it looks pretty decent. You are paying primarily for the labor involved. If you want a pretty engine bay, expect to pay for one.
