So got my plugs in yesterday...I screwed up and put the exhaust tube and the one way tube too low. I don't think what I ordered is gonna work...argh....!
Here are pics of the hood prior to nose chop of course. You can see the foam I have yet to cut behind the ski. I am going to go horizonal across the tray with the foam standing up. I think that will let me cut out all the tubes and such and use one piece as a template for the next. View attachment 236501View attachment 236502
My god! I didn't realize how much sanding would be involved in this build. Sanded down the bottom of the hull yesterday. 2 sheets of 60grit sandpaper getting rid of all the gouges and scratches, followed by 2 sheets of 220. Between sanding the inside and outside I have probably removed as much as I have added with the reinforcement! Should hopefully be getting my exhaust pipe back from my dad (welder) next week and I can finally finish the tray.
Here are a few pics pre sanding of the foam. View attachment 237133View attachment 237134View attachment 237135
I did the tray like a Rikter.
So what I did with the hold is use thickened resin and glued them in place. That is what the pvc pipe is doing. Than I foamed around them and in any gaps that the polystyrene left.
Than sanded the foam and pulled the pvc pipe. I have cut all the glass cloth that I need I just need to lay it...will probably do it tomorrow so I can call the tray section pretty much done.
Well I did a little glasswork. I think I need one more layer in the tray as I can feel it give a bit when I push on it. View attachment 237350
haah...no not even close. finished the tray glass up (did the end caps and did one more layer over the front of the tray and the tops of the gunwhales for reinforcement. I also cut the front of the nose off but havent started shaping foam yet. I cut 9 inches off the front to the bond line 7 from the tip of the nose.... Yikes!
