Here are pics of the hood prior to nose chop of course. You can see the foam I have yet to cut behind the ski. I am going to go horizonal across the tray with the foam standing up. I think that will let me cut out all the tubes and such and use one piece as a template for the next. View attachment 236501View attachment 236502

That hood looks sweet!! I am still waiting on my pipe to get welded. Also had my boy on Monday! So right now all my time is going to taking care of mama and changing diapers. Hoping to take a month or so off work and fit in a couple hours here and there until shes finished! :)

Congrats brother!!! My little girl is due in March...so I have been really pushing to get this thing done as I figure it will sit for years if I don't get her finished.

Good luck...hope all is going well with Mom and Son!

My god! I didn't realize how much sanding would be involved in this build. Sanded down the bottom of the hull yesterday. 2 sheets of 60grit sandpaper getting rid of all the gouges and scratches, followed by 2 sheets of 220. Between sanding the inside and outside I have probably removed as much as I have added with the reinforcement! Should hopefully be getting my exhaust pipe back from my dad (welder) next week and I can finally finish the tray.

I haven't even really gotten to the sanding yet...not looking forward to it. should I give you a little sneak peak at my tray? Its not totally done yet. Still have to sand gunwhale foam and re glass but its coming along.

I actually used the canned crap as it was so much cheaper and I am really not worried about water intrusion into the gunwhales. The water will leak down into the bottom of the hull and shouldn't soak the foam. If it does...oh well.

So what I did with the hold is use thickened resin and glued them in place. That is what the pvc pipe is doing. Than I foamed around them and in any gaps that the polystyrene left.

Than sanded the foam and pulled the pvc pipe. I have cut all the glass cloth that I need I just need to lay it...will probably do it tomorrow so I can call the tray section pretty much done.

I was just going to ask this! While waiting to get the exhaust pipe back I have been working on the waveblaster 1 to keep me busy.

Check and make sure you have no gaps in the fiberglass around the corners and stuff good sir...before you do the final layer. Water will find it's way in! It's sneaky like that.

Ian thanks or the note on that...yes I did seal every little corner etc. Once I clean up everything with a grinder and/or sander I plan to use thickened resin to fill anything I think might be subject to leak.

Quinc...I moved them 5 inches forward as that is what I chopped off the hull. So basically I am standing in the same location in the tray as I would be if the length was left the same.

haah...no not even close. finished the tray glass up (did the end caps and did one more layer over the front of the tray and the tops of the gunwhales for reinforcement. I also cut the front of the nose off but havent started shaping foam yet. I cut 9 inches off the front to the bond line 7 from the tip of the nose.... Yikes!

Can't wait to see how you finish it!

Cut the ride plate down to fit. Still waiting on the exhaust tube and an aluminum pump shoe that I bought from a member.

that looks really nice man. Did you just cut it with a jigsaw and metal blade? Looks good.

My tray area is still a mess as it needs to be sanded but it s fully glassed. Did a few more layers on it to make sure it is strong. Also, I started shaping foam. Lemme tell you that is a royal mess and a pain in the butt. I'll attach a photo of the beginning of the foam shape in a moment.
