Oh don't be like that. I played on the fence with the 9, 12 and 14 because I wasn't sure which would provide enough energy. My 14 crapped out after only a couple months so I went back to my 9. I soon discovered the 9 was crapping out too and I finally tracked it down to corroded battery cables. Once I replaced those, the 9 was more than adequate. It runs 2 bilges all day, (even if I forget to turn them off), and cranks my SS865 all weekend. I even leave it hooked up now for up to a couple weeks between rides and it holds a charge just fine. My wife's 07 Superjet has been known to crank up after sitting for a couple months even.
So, you can run a 12 or a 14 with the added reserve, it certainly won't hurt, I'm just saying that's not enough of a reason for me to not recommend the ETX9 to anyone.
