Where is your fav place in FL and why? I live close to Hugo so that gets my vote. Lots of riders have said the same thing about it. Plus, you can drive on the beach which is nice.

whatever you are closest to... Jax, Daytona, Sebby, St. Aug... It's all the same wind slop 99% of the time.
The good breaks you won't go near on a ski unless you want to be arrested or beat down by a group of surfers

Agreed on the quoted part (simply because you know I have personally never had issues with surfers...quite the contrary). Plus, you also realize he's been on the site long enough to know the subject was already covered, and he could have simply revived the fun old thread that had all of the fun old guys in it...

I love all of the places!

I find it a bit of a PIA launching from the beach. No 4x4, no beach wheelz....

I enjoy trying other places and riding with different people, but mainly stick to the spot.

Like slutty said...it's close. it's easy and with the exception of monster hole (maybe), we all get pretty much the same conditions.

The Spot gets my vote! Close to me, drop in & your at the break in less than 2 minutes, we get some great surf there with long running waves!

Like Nick said mostly wind blown surf unless you ride early am, but there are those days that are just EPIC at the Spot!

I began that thread last year, for I desired to address the forever old issue of localism… “turf wars” (which can be outrageously fun, or downright nasty, sadly).

I knew my thread would not make the issue go away, and I think it would be naïve of anyone to believe that localism will ever vanish. I simply wished to address it, so I did of course, and I played around in the thread, as usual, like others did too.:Banane01: I was born on the coast of Florida long ago, and I spent almost every day in the surf during the summertime when school was out, and then some too indeed…

I believe the truth of what I learned long ago, is that certain people will travel great distances for surf…wherever it is hitting that day…others will stay at their self-designated spot, due to personal reasons…

I was saving this picture for a special occasion; that is why I did not donate it to Wetracer Magazine, along with many others I still have saved. I took this photo during the fund raiser I helped Brian of Thrust Innovations organize earlier this year, in order to benefit those suffering in Haiti. My hat is still off to Brian for that, and I believe it always will be too. It is my favorite picture of Nick that day, and it was at Monster Hole in Sebastian Inlet, for those not aware. It was a good day, not the best, and by far not the worst, as far as surf goes for that location. I had a blast too!

When hanging at the surf (for me at least), it is nice when it is only a few locals, just as it is nice when it is mega people. I personally like it when I can share it with people who have never been…wherever I happen to be that day. My favorite thing though, is finding a place I have never been, and my absolute favorite thing, is finding it by accident. Then it is like a special gift of a jewel to me, and so I remember it that way.

Just felt like sharing…

NIce pic...slutty rocks.
And you're right...about me anyway. (self designated spot due to personal reasons)

Personal reasons: it's too close. it's too easy. I'm too lazy, except for big events.

I think Tanner just loves to ride and wants to check out other spots & meet other riders. I could be wrong but I feel he started this thread as a vehicle to further his riding reach. It's easy to tell when you watch him ride....he loves it. And he's in no way about turf wars. He's a friggin' POPAMATIC!
Hell, he can't even hear you scream while he's riding. He's got some kinda waterproof ipod......jammin' death metal or something..lol

But not about turf.

Thanks on the pic Dan (I'll clean it up one day Nick, promise).

That's cool to read about Tanner! I'm not sure anyone thought he was trying to create a turf war (maybe help keep the site organized perhaps, lol), but I think that it is great you clarified and vouched for him anyway...very cool indeed!!

On that same line of thought...I am not sure if I have met you Tanner (only met you briefly Dan). I may have taken pics of you before Tanner, or chatted briefly...not sure (forgive me if I should recall please)! I hope to get to know you better one day, as well as watch you ride your ski in some sweet surf too!!!

Maybe some of you have one special pic you happen to like, at a place you think is special around here too! Just a thought!

And Edit for Tanner: I know Hugo! Just not too well with a ski! :)

The entire east coast could have some killer surf very soon, if TD4 will help.

Right now it's forecast models are the same as "BILL"....which was, strangely, almost exactly 1 year ago. (Aug 15).
Granted, it could die, change coarse, come too close etc.... but we can hope!

Here's the surf-slut thread with links..

On that same coarse, if it gets stronger, it will generate groundswell like the west coast riders get. If it comes close enough, but not too close, it's low pressure will cause west winds....Glassing off the faces.
It's a long shot, I know.
But a repeat would be AWESOME for all.

I haven't looked at it today, but I will go check it out. Yesterday it was low lat, with a W WNW and at 90% for development for a depression.

I think it’s cool you have an interest in the storms Dan. The lat is still low…

Yet the wave could likely bring something (many various factors…too tired to look in detail right now honestly)

Same on the other one…

What you can do, is watch how they come off of the continent (I watch as the first hit it actually). When they are coming off pretty low, in proximity to the Cape Verdes Islands (blah blah blah... mega other factors), odds are low for us (in general). This tends to shift as season progresses (and we are getting to that point now…couple of weeks, but that doesn’t hold water...blah blah blah). We had a shift a few weeks ago, and then all shifted again. You can dig into the site, and have fun with it…

I just hope for waves when a storm is brewing.
I hope that it stays away enough to give us waves. I dread boarding up my house.
I look at forecast models on www.stormpulse.com and intellicast.

TD4, this morning, looked like "Bill". (The best and biggest waves I've seen in Florida) Far enough away to save us misery, close enough to give us waves, close enough for that low psi to pull a west wind to glass the faces. And no worries about my home.

A lot of ingredients.....to be perfect.
It could happen.
