Glass and carbon? Im curious about weight too.
Glass and carbon? Im curious about weight too.
For a guy pretty new to the sport looking to do rec riding and learn a little freestlye, a plain old SJ is by far the best choice. Why throw a ton of money at an AM hull at this point? Seriously.
4800+ hood (1000) + paint job (800) + turf (300) =6900
hull only is 77.4 and hood is 10.5 lbsWhat's the weight of the wcf vision?

For the price and customer service you cant go wrong with the bob. Only people who havent rode a bob before would say you cant rec ride it. Rickters just look nice thats about all the got going for them.....
Fiberglass or Carbon
I totally disagree with this statement, I am not downing a BOB, I feel the same about a Q8 as far as the ride goes. The difference is a Q8 is bullet proof but it cost more. I do not know about the second Gen BOB but I know the style and have seen many peeps ride them in vids and they look simular to GEn 1 and Q8 style to me. NOT A REC HULL!!! Maybe your version of REC hull differs from mine.
My guess is Glass, But am curious to hear for sure.
The Rickters BTW are SUPER heavy IMO but ride nice. XFS 111# with hood / XFR 120# with hood (heavy for a small boat IMO).
Glas ROk with pole bracket, intake grate, ride plate and front side hood latches as well as the hood 96# and its a wide low profile hull that handles REALLY well and rides light. The Freak is nice in carbon -4.5 version but I have yet to try a glass one and see how the added 40# feels. The carbon freak gets my #1 vote, the carbon ROK is #2 and the Glass ROK #3, then the XFR, then Q8 (keep in mind this is my opinion and considering the all around freeride / freestyle good mix) For FREESTYLE only the order would go Carbon Freak Then Q8 then Carbon ROK and the same from there.
Everyone is different, I say if you have the cash then skip the SJ ALL TOGETHER, the market is HOT for buyers right now and complete boats are plentiful at less than when you can build them for IMO, buy now, try it and if you dont like it then sell it for what you have in it come spring.
Where can we buy that ROK except via Motoman who have one for sale here. What about Jeff from WDK in all those comments. Its good to talk about that, but if we cant buy it, its not a option ??? IMO
I agree with that completely bro. I think the only current option on ROK hulls is USED! Just becasue you cannot count on WDK for customer service doesnt mean its not a good hull. There are used ones avail every now and then. Any purchase of an AM hull used or new has its issues. Superfreak lead time and freight from FL to CA qould not be good either. Rickter is a waiting game and coming from Asia is not ever accurate on delivery either, hell, by time you get an XFS there will be a NEW RICKTER OUT LOL. Trust me, we went thru it when we bought the FS2's last year, they came in Nov. 2010 and in Jan 2011 BAM XFS is out and avail to order.
To answer your question though USED ROK will be quicker than any NEW hull anyway, even if there isnt one on the market today, tomorrow is another day.
Don't knock it till you try it. Looks can be deceiving, the Gen2 hull is much better then the Gen1. There's a reason why we don't offer the Gen1 hull anymore, and we still plan to sell the Gen2 after Gen3 has been released. The Gen2 is hands down, the BEST aftermarket hull I have ever ridden, and I've tried tons of different hulls at Havasu. Obviously I've spent more time on my Gen2 then any other hull, so I've grown accustom to it, but I tried 360's and Rolls on every other ski, and none of them do it as well as my Gen2. Plus, most of the other hulls rode so nose high, it felt like more of a 'backflip only' hull then a Gen2. Gen2 hulls are a great rec riding ski, I do it all the time on mine. Its more stable and lighter then a Super Jet, and it handles so much better as well.
I'll swear by the Gen2, not because we make them, but because I 100% honestly believe that it is the best Freestyle hull available. I'm not saying everything else is junk, but the Gen2 was able to do more tricks then some of the others, and it was a much easier to cruise around on then most of the skis at Body Beach during WF's.
That's my $.02.
I never told that a ROK is not a good hull. I just said that maybe it will be hard to find one and if its hard to find, maybe its not the best option for wispy. BTW he is not looking for a rec hull, he already have a sxr. He want to enter into freestyle hull, and sometime ride with his gf around the lake. Every hull can do that easy.
Fiberglass or Carbon
glass/carbon re-inforced
BTW, did anybody noticed that all the JAP boats at WF were glass??
When the riders are only 84 lbs, the weights of the sksi are not that big a deal.
