Indeed it is. I didn't think it needed to be mentioned, but here it is anyways: 1 minute cranking refers to a few seconds cranking, few seconds rest, repeat.
After one minute, let it rest for a while, then repeat.

I ordered the 12 cell Ballistic today, It should be here by the weekend. I ordered it from 613 Motorsports in Ottawa, they have lots of these batterys in stock and ship same day

If anyone is thinking about the Shorai batteries, hold off for further testing. I had some issues yesterday and not sure if it's the battery, S/S switch, or my starter solenoid but a fully charged battery wasn't doing anything. It cranked strong once and then quit completely when I shut it off. I'm thinking it's a switch, solenoid, or some kind of short but don't want to rule out the battery. Couple days I'll know for sure. It worked the first day so the timing of this problem is odd.

Just wanted to give an update on this issue. Turns out the problem was not the battery at all but my battery cable. I don't really see where the problem is but it will not carry current. When I bypassed that cable with jumper cables, everything worked fine. The battery will be used again next weekend.

I will edit the post quoted above so that I don't scare or confuse anyone.

FYI I like mattE, i have read many of his posts over the years and have learned about him. He is a self proclaimed hack, has somewhat weak mechanical skills and needs a motor builder to set him up. nothing wrong with that. He will go back to his jetworks battery and bandaide his problem. Soon enough his starter will get worse and his big bad battery will not let his flame start his ski. I have not disregarded anything he has said. In fact he has unintentionally made us aware of another problem for the flamers, no small batteries on these skis. I gave more proof from scott's battery that people are disregarding. 8 weeks of scotts abuse vs. MattE's 2 tries. Matt has also taught me more about himself, he seems to be arrogant enough to think his ski may not have problems. Waternut at least looks into the problems. For that i am respectful of him for at least truly testing the battery. Now if it takes a highschool drop out to ask why an electrical engineer doesn't have a DMM to actually test his stuff, then so be it. If anyone could have helped out testing these batteries it should have been MattE, but he ditched it and gave it his two thumbs down. Not to worry boys, The Canadians have a bunch of these batteries coming and i am getting the exact same one as MattE. I will test it and abuse it. So to recap:
MattE = fail
scotty2t = abused and will probably let us know about the warranty soon enough, edit: still working.
Waternut = pass
Aircraft and Jekert = both have top notch big skis and will be testing out these batteries on big motors with good components
Yamacore = stock ignition, no charging at all, 9 weeks going strong.

lol, there is textbook smart and common sence smart. If matte crys himself to sleep tonight because i am pushing his buttons i will paypal him some money for tissues and gas to go ride. That will turn his frown upsidedown. I have learned stuff from him but if you post up wiki style info about electrical engineering levels, I will put up a fuss. Matt knows stuff but imo he gave up without a fight. That is fine, he wants to ride and not wrench. being a ski geek and electrical geek i would have thought he would do more testing. (Waternut is doing great with his reports, and he is one that build a stunt haha) I figured from the moment MattE posted he was getting one, that he would be the one to have it not work for his setup, but i said nothing because i was curious about the flame ignition and his bilge pumps. I am still trying to upload the video but my uploads are failing. i did not hold scotts starter for one minute straight, even though you guys are hoping i did. I gaver tits on it though and you can hear it slowing down. It still would have kept cranking for a lot longer. Our skis start instantly. what i did to scotts ski must have been equal to another 2-3 hours of ride starts on his ski. i will keep trying, i had it uploaded to 78% before it dumped.

I am buying a shoria from X2guy when he gets his shipment in. It will be run in a 771 BB @170 psi with MSD TL and no bilge pumps.

I did some testing on my deka tonight for a benchmark. Should be getting mine tommorrow or the next day. I got the 2.12 lbs @ 270 cca. it is the Lfx18a one. I was informed that the delay on batteries was because they updated the terminals. :headbang:

me too, the old ones look silver or stainless. i am not sure but they seem to just feed thru the housing and must be soldered to a wire. scott pulled his out a ways and pushed it back in. I would be gobbing some di-el all over it to keep water intrusion after that. actually i will have gobs on it anyways, lol.
