Got it on the Tender now!

Those are very good, but not idiot proof. Don't leave it connected for extended periods (days/weeks/months on end). It is better to top it off when you put your ski away for a while and then periodically top it off (once a month).

Had my shorai in my ski for almost two weeks and it's been like any other battery as far as cranking great and no problems then today i went to start ski and it was completely dead. I checked to make sure my bilge wasn't left on and it wasn't. Fortunately it took a charge fine and seems to be good again. Not sure what happened since i've never noticed any load being on system when off (no arcs or anything when connecting battery).

My guess is your bilge switch or something else is leaking current. It'll be intermitent and head to diagnose but that's how I completely destroyed my battery so be careful.

I have been using the shorai for a few weeks and have been having trouble keeping it charged. When the ski dies or doesn't hit on initial couple cranks batt plays out. Any tips I've been 2amp charging no more than 15 min. Afraid to ride alone cuz of it now.

This sounds more like battery cables, grounds, or starter solenoid to me. A bigger battery would be able to brute force through all the resistance but a real problem would should show up with these batteries.

i agree, when its green unhook it and save some electricity. i think they actually will slowly drain the battery so it does not eat itself while in storage not being discharged. but not 100 percent. usually if i would leave it on my deka for a week and then disconnect and reconnect it would go to blink mode 80 percent and take 5-10 min to bring it up. the li-fi batteries don't need this and store well without drain.

I bought my shorai from a bike shop that races a full out hyabusa drag bike, they use a shorai for 2 seasons now he said and this generation aswell as mine dont have the special 5 pin charger. they have always used the tender so iam confident that this is THE way to keep these batteries working top notch.

I dont leave the Tender on my ski's cause I leave the skis at the lake and bring the batt's home, but on my streetbikes I leave them on all winter long (battery in bike in cold shed 4-5 months). It always reach's -40celcious during our winters (Fkn cold in US terms) and I havent replaced a battery since 2003, I swear by those things!! Especially with the crappy small KTM battery's supplied!

down with the sickness
Ok I found my drain. The port on the battery that has the rubber plug had not kept water out. I had tons of problems with the battery yesterday so I pulled it out at the lake and charged it off truck/jumpers, but when I had it charging I opened that port to make sure it was dry and it was not. Also was corroding already so I brushed it out with a toothbrush and dried it out then filled with dielectric grease then sealed with glue. Charged it off my truck for 30 minutes and it acted perfectly after that point. So my advice to anyone with a Shorai is to fill that port with dielectric grease and seal it off before something like this happens.

I may have killed mine I put the battery tender on overnight and it only read 6.9 volts the next morn. Gonna take it out of ski and try it. Think its dead?

Try everything you can but that's the same kind of voltage mind was reading when it tanked. I'm talking with Shorai right now about a warranty claim but I don't have high hopes. If they reject it, I'll pop open the battery and see if there is anything I can do.

For Those About To Rock
Just finished reading the last 17 pages of post - in need of a battery at this time but not sure Li-Fe battery is the way to go. Would like to save the weight but don't need to be left dead in the water every time I turn around.
Here are my ski specs and ride time - would appreciate any thoughts on using the lightweight battery as well as what size to go with.
Ride lake (mostly) and surf. Compression 190 psi, MSD Total Loss Digital dual pickup, dual Rule 500 gph pumps - one runs most of the time with the second one as backup. Usually burn about 10 gal gas per outing - 2 to 4 rides. Not unusual to be a 1/2 mile or more from shore - following a big cruser that is laying out a 4 ft wake. Do not want to be recharging the battery between rides. Can get 2 days riding (20 gal) with the gel cell battery I'm using now before recharging. Main goal is to be able to go 1 day with out recharging.
Thanks.

Well we haven't heard any negative reviews on the Ballistic batteries yet. Maybe it's just a Shorai thing. I think mine may have died because it got drained too far. Either way, Shorai's customer service is really slow to respond.
