Best Li-Fe battery I have seen so far

ok, keep in mind this is my fault, and im not sure why this is happening beside to much voltage draw and the solenoid wont release. I bought a ballistic 12cell, 2 weeks later i was at the lake, got my ski waterlogged, kept cranking on it, you know where they almost start but dont, ran the battery pretty dead, was gonna try it again, then my aftermarket starter solenoid locked up and wouldnt stop cranking. i was 200 yards out and I cooked my Ballistic. I called them, they said no problem, heres your warranty code, when we get it, we'll ship u out a new one, and thats exactly what happend. So thats not the batteries fault, it was mine, i just wanted you guys to know it was very easy to get another one, less than a week. But.... I just did it again, with a new solenoid, ive ran a ford starter solenoid your two years, and this is just now happening, solenoid wont release, bummer. guess Ill see if i can get a new battery again, and go with a superjet solenoid. side note::: ive waterlogged my big 1200cc wdk motor with this battery 2 times, and it cranked a very long time both times, one time it started after off and on cranking of about 2 min of 10 second intervals thats with total loss. if someone was running a charging ignition system you could prolly get the smaller 8 cell. ill let you know what they say, im not telling them about the solenoid unless they ask. I BREAK EVERYTHING!!

WARNING!! I was charging my 12cell Ballastic using the ballistic charger, went inside the house for awhile to watch tv, went back out to check and see if it was done and my freaking ski was on dang fire!!It looked to had just started maybe been burning for a minute or two only, about 12inch flames from battery area. If I had taken a shower instead of checking on it, my $23,000 Rok with 1200cc woulda been a pile of nothing with no insurance. i am not impressed anymore and will go back to the 12lb lead batteries i didnt noitice a differacne in weight anyway. take it or leave it,im a upset right now, still shaking

Well that sucks for you and I'm glad you caught it in time but there are the two biggest problems with that setup; run em down and they die, overcharge and they die.

My 9 lb Deka's are still going strong and still looking like the best deal out there.

I have done both, and this is not always the case. When i was thinking of getting my shoria, i thought about my Li-Ion powertool batteries to compare. They have smart chargers and figured that i use them everyday and kill them dead before charging. the makita charger always charges them without fires or voltage failures. I was going to buy the special charger for mine until the salesman told us we can use the battery tender which i had already on my garage shelf. So how many people here that have bought these batteries have been using the battery tender? how many people have had some failure without it?

my big crank etx9 has been pretty good to me, as long as i dont run my bilges on for the whole time im good to go. Will last me a week easy without charging it, not bad for a 7lb battery

I've had my shorai battery for 1 season now and its only ever seen a charger once, and that was just because the ski was sitting for 3 weeks and I just threw it on the charger because it was out of the ski. one of the best weight saving mods i have ever done.

spork

down with the sickness
Just found out my battery has quite a bit of water inside of it causing it to drain power again. I've contacted shoria to see what the options are, but from what I can tell this is the leading cause of failure for this battery. To anyone that has one I would make sure it's dry and stays that way. It appears there are 3 places for water to get in (seam, lugs, charging port). Hopefully they will contact me soon and I will update as this progresses.

Well I'm happy for you but that's total crap that they handled your warranty and wouldn't give me the time of day. Need a Shorai charger?

I contacted shoria through their site about my shoria taking on water and shorting out slowly draining, and I just got off the phone with the president of the company. I must say I am extremely impressed by being contacted by phone to discuss the issues. He also seemed very receptive to coming on here to contact those with problems to get warranty resolved. They are rma'ing mine as well so don't give up yet waternut.
