thats definitely funny !! glad to hear ! i was not saying they wont work, when i purchased mine i ended up with the 8 cell which didn't work out for me...i think the 12 would have been better..after my first experience i decided to go a different route..x2 on the charging .watch out for a flame-thrower/battery when charging make sure you follow the instructions carefully or else firemarshall bill may pay a visit ! had to get on here to kick that horse one more time (whack!)

that dead horse won't mind. i would agree that they have some more work on the cases and design if they want to survive the abuse some people throw at them. i know 6 guys with them and the 3 local guys i ride with have had nothing but good times, another guy had one die but got it back with a manual charger. the other two guys i think are running them but i did hear that the one was not starting his ski. not sure if he charged it up and is using it again. he had it on a charging system that he thought was charging but not 100 percent sure. The shoria will tend to go flat on the first use and then seem to get stronger and last longer with a few more uses. lol@firemarshall bill, Let me show you something.

i think mine finally took a dump, it was not even clicking my relay over today. i left it uncharged/used for a couple weeks and i had my tether plugged in, not that that should have mattered. its pretty dead.

Just saw this today... Ordered one to see how it does. If it seems to work, the plan would be to run two of these and use one as a backup. All the other LiFEPO4 batteries have been too expensive to do that with. It may be a while before I actually get to try this battery though.

Haven't had a real desire to get out in the crappy weather we've been having lately but I did test this battery out a little. Cranked it out of the water a bunch. After about 5-6 seconds of cranking, I can hear the starter begin to slow down a little but if I give it a 5-10 second break, it's back to full speed again. I cranked the engine for at least a full minute total in 4-5 second intervals and it never seemed to get weak. Since I don't ever really need to crank my engine more than a second to get it going, that's a lot of starts. I'll give it some water testing soon....I hope.

On a side note... After cutting it open, I'm positive my Shorai battery failed because of water intrusion and corrosion. So to help that problem this time, I dipped both ends of this new battery in "Plasti-dip" multiple times to help seal the water out. Maybe I could put it in a waterproof box too but we'll see. These batteries are cheap by comparison.

Mine wouldn't take a charge today aswell droc. I started my ski friday night then left my tl switch on for two days. Both my digital charger and the battery tender acted like i connected them to a piece of wood. After riding today with my 10lb i boosted the shorai withthis battery and my tender booted up so we will see if it works after this. I will report again...

i drilled two holes in mine and drained water out, it hangs at 6.9v and appears to have a dead cell or something. Its been on the charger for a couple days and its not likely going to charge back up. I never swamped my ski so i assume the water comes in from the terminals from regular usage. I filed for a rma # but of course i have not kept my reciept. haha.

My Shorai didn't have any standing water in it. It was just a little damp when I opened it up. However, even the dampness made all the terminals green and the tape was no longer tacky. I think the problem is the LiFe cells (at least in my Shorai and my Zippy batteries) are basically bags and the connections are bonded in place. As long as the pack is in it's case/wrapping, the terminals can't come loose but with enough water, the bonds start to get weak. Obviously once the bonds falls off, that's the end of the pack unless you can get inside, clean it up, and reattach the connection without destroying the battery.

Well today I checked the status of my battery. After several days of drying out and not taking much of a charge I decided to try and hook it in parallel to a marine battery with the charger running. After work today I unhooked it and instead of 6.-7v it read 12.+\- I let it sit for a couple hours and checked it aGain and it bounced to 14v. I will load test it tomorrow and see if it works again. I am doubtful it will work like it use to.

Could that moisture be condensation? Even "dry cell" lead acid condensate.

I've been spraying silicone spray on it every time I go out. Hopefully I'll avoid that problem

That will keep it looking good anyway.

I believe the key to success is to keep these charged after use. This does not mean leave them on a battery tender unattended.

My battery sat inside on a table for 3 weeks or so before I gave up and cut it open. I can't see condensation still being there after that amount of time in a fairly controlled environment.
