Any possibility of coming out with a less expensive cylinder that does not utilize power valves and is not set up for more than 5mm stroke

You are describing a stock cylinder and a spacer plate to me.

I'm curious why you would even want an aftermarket cylinder if you don't want powervalves.

I am looking at the advantage of going to a large bore with out the problems of having to bore out the sleeves and installing oversize sleeves and weakening the cylinder. I like not having to deal with a girdle system. A lack of after market heads capable of this bore size with an o-ring design. If I sell my used cylinder and billet head and use that money towards the billet cylinder with out the power valves I figure it won't cost me a whole lot more than it would cost me to get it resleeved plus the price of a billet head that will still need a gasket to seal a maximum bore of only 85 mm. I do hope for a non power valve cylinder package. I personally don't believe I need the power valves. With the right porting and proper set up it should be way better than what you can get with modifying the stock cylinder. I don't think people are going to build engines capable of 7800 rpm plus. I am thinking 7350 rpm for a freestyle engine of this bore size should be fine. The larger bore size of the billet cylinder allows more porting possibilities than the OEM cylinder can offer.
Is there any pricing yet

Ok, thanks for the clarification, I will answer as best as I can.

The cylinder would certainly be available without powervalves, just as the Yamaha cylinder is. It would certainly be less expensive that way, but I am not sure what you consider "less expensive".

In my opinion the smaller bore sizes benefit the most from the powervalves. It allows for small enough exhaust port to keep velocity up at lower RPMS as well as a large enough exhaust port so as not to restrict power at upper RPMS.

I don't handle pricing and I do not believe the powers that be have decided yet. I only handle the CNC machine shop end at DASA as well as run my own shop. I am sure it will be inline with the price of the Yamaha cylinder.

I would also like to see you guys come up with a stock stroke "big bore 89mm+" set up for the yamaha and new kawi. There seems to be a good market right now for those.

you know, I always had thought that I'd want an engine without PV's as well...

I think that was because :

1. they can be intimidating if you dont know how to service/work on them

2. i never really understood how they worked and how much performance can be gained from them..

After speaking with Pat Bogart one day..He explained the differences and how they worked etc etc..then after RIDING a PV cyl I cant see how you woudnt want them!!!

We are talking about it, but just don't see the advantage.

Why go through the expense of a big bore cylinder and not use a stroker crank?

In my opinion, the motor will wind up very over-square and will probably will want to rev to the moon, maybe even uncontrollably. 68MM stroke/90MM piston?

so if it will compare in cost to a yamaha cylinder, what's a ball park figure!!a rough idea would be nice ??anyone

Sorry I thought you knew what the Yamahas went for.

I talked to Kyle about it today, the unported complete cylinder top end kit will be $2800. Same price as the Yamaha.

Everything you need from the base gasket on up, billet cylinder with sleeves installed, pistons, correct size billet domes for your application, billet powervalves and powervalve housings, powervalve hardware, billet head and o-rings.

I just bought material for doing the Yamahas and Kawis and it should be here in a week.

The cylinder bottoms have to be done first, so it should take about three weeks to get complete cylinders. We still have Yamaha stock so I will do the Kawis first.

I am trying to free up a second machine to do the bottoms, since that will speed up the process, fortunately we are pretty busy right now. I am glad for that, because there are plenty of people who aren't.

Are you guys ready?

awesome product. i would like to throw another vote for a stock stroke option. ive been doing some riding on a friends yamaha boat that has a stock stroke crank and one of your cylinders on his WCF built engine. it is all the power i could ever need and you can keep your old topend to swap out as a spare. also eliminates the custom bottom end work, stroker crank cost and wait time to get stroker cranks. there seems to be a lot of satisfied yami riders on here lately with stock stroke dasa cylinders lets get some kawi guys goin now. once again awesome work.

Thank you.

I am sure we will be doing a stock stroke Kawi PV cyl as part of this run.

Kinda off topic, but your post somewhat reaffirms what I have been saying about the stock stroke-90MM bore cyl's that are out. Sometimes people get all caught up in clever marketing and don't realize what they are buying.

I agree with you on plenty of power with the smaller 7 port "big bore" cyl, even with a stock-stroke-crank. I think the engine needs a longer stroke to take advantage of the 90+MM piston.

WCF does good stuff.

So are ready for a Kawi?
