Its not the hood straps that make the hood seal Its the ratchet strap ... It puts even downward pressure on the hood and allows the hood to seal .... When I used the hood latch it pulled the rear of the hood down but the front would pull up just enough to loose the seal... Put a really bright light in your hull and close it like you normaly would and see if you have light coming out from anywhere around your seal.. Maybe you won't need one ... We have 3 bobs here though .. 2 gen 2s and my gen3 and they all need a ratchet strap

Got it right at auto zone... They have a tone of colors ... Some colors have different heat temps so make sure to read the can

You definately need hood straps on your bob. My first big backflip blew the hood right off on landing and down she went. Youll see when the. Latch is open but still in the lock position after a hard landing that the only thing holding it on is the straps.
