bottom line is, no hull out there is perfect, all inserts is install by a human , maybe some are spot on maybe some aren't , so suck it up and grind whatever you have to grind to make it work, I know some guys will say " I paid a lot money for the hull it should be perfect" only God is perfect. so suck it up and build it

that is what is all about building a ski.

I'm not sure what the exact dollar amount was for the hardware that was additional- it was no more than $150 if I remember correctly but like I said Derrick was so great to work with and ate the cost because of the mishap.

Thanks for the feedback. Again let me say that I'm not bad-mouthing the ski clinic or the bob hull at all! I just wanted to share my story and my info on my build.

And like I stated before, if I would've know all this before purchasing my Bob, I would do it all over again without any doubt! Its a great hull and rides, flips and rolls great!

At the end of the day I gotta say its money well spent, and I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy one. In fact, one of my friends heard my whole story, saw our 3 hulls, rode them and ordered one the next day.

Moral of the story(which has been said in many other custom threads) you should either see any hull or ride one before you make a decision.

Again a big thanks to Zack at Action for gettin me on the water and a big thanks to Derrick at The Ski Clinic- he stands behind his product and is a great guy to deal with.

I understand that and agree with you for sure. The problem was that the pump they were using was defective and Derrick apologized to me personally and was doing whatever he could to make it better. It was an error that was fixed- I wasn't saying everything should be to the T but the holes were a half inch off so it was an issue.

Haha I think Matt wants credit for his sweet 50 page write up on Superfreaks!

I love reading honest reviews on hulls that doesn't turn into a pissing match.

I wasnt tring to discredit anyone that wrote a honest review. Its hard for a buyer to swallow the fact that they bought a expensive hull and its not what they wanted or expected.

Matte thank you for the SF review, i did read it a while ago, I was not trying to insult anyone, rather thank tommy for his post about the bob!

Your good man, I wasn't referring to anybody at all, I was just thanking the OP for an honest review that didn't turn into a war! Great review!

Well the Bobs are catching on around here......since our 3 came in one more was ordered last week and another one I believe is
getting offered this upcoming week.

Like I said before, I wasn't bashing the hull or the Ski Clinic at all, just sharing my build. And it shows if I have two more friends that are ordering these hulls just as fast as we did!

See Action Extreme for the Bob hookup! Hopefully we can post some good videos this year of all the Bobs in action!

At $4,000, our clients are purchasing a VERY inexpensive hull, and one that functions the way its supposed to. We don't sell show-room hulls, we sell affordable products that work the way they should.

What ever happened to Function over Fashion? I thought the point of Freestyle was to do Backflips and Barrel Rolls, not brag about whos ski is prettier (I thought only racers did that?)

Tpain, thank you for taking the time to write out a review. We appreciate any and all feedback that we can get. I'm sorry that it wasn't all that you expected, but we do our best to make our customers happy with the short time frame that we have on each build, but we understand not everyone is 100% happy. The majority of our customers are pleased with the hulls, but you can't make everyone happy all the time. You've got a bullet proof tank that does flips on a little motor, thats definitely something to be happy about.

Again, thanks for taking the time to write a review on the hulls.

One more thing I wanted to add, is we were that weight was not a factor, and since you guys ride in Lake Michigan, we were told to make the hulls beefy and bullet proof. Weight didnt matter, just make them strong, and thats what we did.

Also, we've been retooling all of our equipment, including new moulds. We made new moulds for our Gen2s, because over time, the fit and finish of each hull slightly deteriorates as the moulds get used. After 60 units, we decided it was over due, and new moulds help with the standard fit & finish of each unit. You guys got the last ones from our old moulds, but in all honesty, I thought they still looked amazing.

Hey Dk I have question? Say someone wanted to buy a bob hull...if they had the pump and drive line could they send it to the ski clinic and have their hull mocked up with their pump and drive line? That way you know for sure it directly bolts up with no modifying.

You guys build a nice hull and I know nothing can be perfect. I would be a little afraid of taking a dremel to a spendy mag pump.

Anyways keep up the good work I can't wait to see some pics of the gen 3.

Originally, the pump would bolt up no problem. We use a pump to mock up the bolts, but form my understanding, the holes on the ears of our mock up pump had been ground down a bit, so the 2 inserts by the pump shoe are off just a tad. However, that problem has been resolved, and we are using a new jig for the pump inserts. All inserts will be in the correct spot, no grinding needed.

I've had to do the same thing to my Superfreak.
It'd be nice if it fit right, but it's really no big deal to modify, either.
