I almost forgot to mention. I'm using a very thin piece of foam for my hood liner and I typically get that suction sound when I pull the hood off. I always have to pull a corner as well as it's tough to pull the entire front up.

Unfortunately, I've done a lot of engine removal from various hulls and my back is not the best. What I've learned is, if I put a little pressure on my back a 3-4 times to warm up just before lifting the engine, my back doesn't hurt the next day. If I then put an ice pad on my back while I hook everything up, I have no back pains afterwards. If I don't do either of those, I can count on my back hurting for at least 2-3 days. Hope that helps...

first day of summer feels great, other than its raining and I cant work on my ski. Leaving for Mass. tomorrow thatll put me back about 4 days. Hopefully painting when I get back. All that paint stuff in the garage is making me want to get out and ride even more.

I cant get anything done with no garage space. It has rained every afternoon, Im not exaggerating either. All Im getting done are some little things while I have the chance while its not raining. Good news is I MIGHT get room in the booth this weekend (lets hope so)

yup i found one just have to go pick it up. Ive decided my paint plan, nobody wants to help me out with a paint booth. Ive got a big enough shed. Ill cover everything in plastic and use that as my booth and get some air moving through there. Buy a cheapo $30 gun and use my neighbors compressor. Im tired of waiting around Its middle of june and its time to ride.

I've done exactly what you're describing successfully...multiple times. I even did my jeep using that method. I've done most ski's outside and then wheeled them inside immediately afterwards to dry. The jeep I knew would require more time and would have the potential for more bugs to land on it so I did it completely inside. I used a box fan to clear the room and it worked fine. After about a full cup of paint (an amount you won't need on half of the ski), the room would start to get cloudy but would clear by the time I refilled the gun. Walmart sells cheap plastic drop cloths that you can use and then toss when you're done. Just make sure you tape the plastic up really well and put a piece of plastic on the floor. I had to redo a panel on my jeep because the plastic fell on it.

Yeah here's my ghetto booth for th ejeep...lol. I laid down one more sheet on the ground and started masking away. It's not professional but very effective when you need lot of time or nature isn't on your schedule.

primer on saturday hopefully laying down one color sunday. everything is ready to go, everything is masked and prepped (have to do one final wipe down before spraying). We have 200ft of air hose going from my neighbors compressor over to my shed:icon16:

my shed rig (stuff in there is temporarily). looks really small in the picture, but it is plenty of room. with a normal length ski it might be a problem

:scratchchin: we havnt used that thing in probably 10 years. im pretty excited to paint. Not really too worried about how it turns out. Basically just looking for some color, and to get on the lake. Think I can make the 4th of july?

With that much hose, you're going to have a serious pressure drop. You need to get an inline regulator that attaches at the gun. That way you know for sure what pressure you're at.

Already taken care of:cool: We knew that was going to be a problem in the first place. I think it should be smooth sailing after paint besides the batery box mount. Dont even have a battery, and dont really know what will fit in the location. I have all the parts to assemble it besides that little steering knob that the cable attaches to on the steering plate (anyone want to help me out?).

Going to do a little wrenching on my motor. Decided Im going to advance my timing 2 degrees. Gotta get the flywheel off again, that was the biggest pain ever but I have nothing else to do.

On the plus side, flywheel removal the second time is way easier than originally. You can probably get it done by july 4th if you push and have everything ready to go when you're done with paint. You'll always hit snags when initially setting up a hull but hopefully they're minimal.

Looks like I will be painting outside instead of in the shed. EVERY single piece of plastic has fallen. I used gorilla duct tape for plastic to wood contact and painters tape for plastic to plastic, and its all down. I guess the heat takes the toll on the tape. VERY dissapointed. I spent literally 3 afternoons sweating my ass off putting that stuff up.

That sucks man. Just spray it outside and wheel it inside immediately so bugs and dust don't get on it while it dries. The downside is you're on mother natures schedule now so if it's real windy or raining, you have to wait.
