Had a bunch of time last night to work on the ski. I've been waiting on a steering bracket from Tem and as off yesterday, it still hadn't shown up. Sooo... I made my own out of aluminum scrap I had laying around. It's not the prettiest, but it works perfect. Thinking of slapping a Blowsion sticker on it and charging $150 apiece.
All I need is a steering stop bolt and I should be ready to water test tonight!
Got her on the lake yesterday. She's in need of some serious tuning. Had the low speed screw bottomed. Need more time with her. Also need to replace the b pipe head gasket. She was spitting oil and exhaust all over.
The cylinder side head-chamber bolt lost bite and actually stripped through. I had suspected this may happen when I originally torqued it down...Just didn't feel right. Luckily I had the proper helicoil. Finished that and re jetted the carbs. Water test today or tmrw...
Had the ski out last Sunday and discovered a couple more issues. She was still pretty boggy and then I noticed the head pissers were shooting steam. Pulled the head and one of the o rings was missing a good quarter ring. Also realized that my old sn exhaust tube had a serious kink in it off the water box. Definitely restricting air flow. Replaced the o rings in the head and have a rad dudes exhaust tube on the way. Hope to try again this wkd.
Ski is done for the most part. Just need to add some new grips and a footstrap. Still need to tune a bit more out of her but it's a helluva fun light ski!
