CANADA FREERIDE EVENT!

Location

After a long search of insurance companies for the event none of them would meet the cities requirements. Without insurance this event can not happen. We could just have people show and ride but we will not be able to have an organized event. if someone is willing to take over this event idea and host it in a city that doesn't have such high requirements than i will help as much as possible and i know a few guys that really want to sponsor a ontario free ride. Just let me know.
Sorry everyone i did not know my city was so up tight.
Brad, give me a call tomorrow let's talk a little bit about this insurance problem. I'll try to call in a fever from a buddy of mine.

I didnt realize the event coverage was needed. what is it they are covering, the boats or just personal injury/property damage? I would be interested in just meeting and camping/riding. Havent been that way in a while.

We should try and find a place that offers camping near by and make a weekend of it. Also, somewhere central so it draws the maximum number of people... Just my 2 cents.
Good idea, simcoe is good for that it's right in the middle, and camping's all around it. Georgian Bay, Wasaga beach?

We should make a new thread about this, where everyone can post there own opinions, locations, and we'll just pick the best.

I was really hoping for the Brockville ride to take hold as the trip would have been only about an hour or so. Wasaga and Crystal Beach, or anything out that way is about 6 hours drive one way (Crystal Beach is for sure). With fuel prices steadily going up again perhaps something around the East side of T.O. could be considered? I am not familiar with anything out that way but it would at least make the trip much easier to accept for me and the Brockville 1000 Islands crew.

Somewhere on Trent severn waterway. I know Lake Couchiching is crazy for cuddy cruisers. My lake at my cottage is also pretty busy with boats with big wake. Six Mile Lake, lake ontario when its really windy? hard to predict...

Not Lake Ontario it's cold and stinky. Lake Huron, Georgian bay, maybe Simcoe as I mentioned before.
Lake Huron has some nice long waves and the water is clean.
Georgian Bay it's good for camping the waves are nice and most importantly lots of bars and chicks around.

Lake Huron or anything west of Toronto would be out for me I think. 12 hours of road time round trip plus unpacking/packing up for a 2 day event basically means a one day event for anyone down here.

^^I live in the area so I thought I would chime in... I don't know much about that campground but the water is rocky in that area if my memory serves me correctly. However, if you don't mind driving to a spot that isn't rocky from that campground, there is a launch where the Nottawasaga river meets Georgian Bay and there are no rocks in that area...

The river is 6ft deep on average. Depending on the wind the waves can get pretty large in the bay. Usually some boat traffic but in the last couple years it hasn't been as busy as previous years.

There is a fee to park at the launch (I think it's about $13 a day)
