Carburetor (specs) Database: SuperJet and Blaster 1

alright i read the entire list and found some kinda similar to my setup but not quite. could use advice on where to start jetting wise. i have a 62tcase 61x cylinders bored to 82mm/718cc and freestyle ported with milled stock head (pump gas) lightened flywheel and a sbn44 single carb would like help with what jets,spring,needle and seat. thanks for any info and btw this is a great thred

So im an idiot and assumed when I saw my machine had a single carb i assumed it was a sbn 44 but have since noticed it has a wet jet intake and when I measured I found its actually a sbn46. It currently has a #2 needle and seat 117.5 pilot and 155 main and I beleive a gold spring any ideas where I should start with that carb.

701 Stock bore 61x
Wet Jet intake w/stock reeds
46mm carb
FX-1 B-pipe
Freestyle ported cylinder (from template)
Lightened/balanced flywheel

tried a lot of jetting combos, here's what worked for me:

12psi popoff w/2.3 needle & seat
115 low speed jet
145 high speed jet
low screw out 1/2 turn
high screw out 1 1/2 turns

What type of FA were you running. I have a similar setup and might try your jetting as a starting point but am running a stock FA and 12 pop off seems low.

I would start with around a 125pilot ,140main ,25psi pop off then go from there...

Im glad this is running well for ya but with screws turned out that far (especially the main) it is common practice to jet up.

UPDATE:

After reading this and looking for similar setups this is what I am going to try out. I threw these carbs on thinking they were from a stock SJ or B1, but after taking it out for a ride this thing was smoking like crazy, wouldn't idle, and ate tons of fuel. After pulling the carbs, I found the jetting was 120L, 135H, which I thought was way too fat, so Im going to try the settings below.

Is there a couch that comes with 38mm carbs with jetting like this, or was someone messing around in there?
Let me know if you think this is about right.

Thanks,

Brand = Mikuni
Model = Stock SBN
Size = 38MM
Quantity = 2
Main Jet = 135
Pilot Jet = 70
Needle/Seat = 1.5
Spring = 95g with 3 1/2 coils cut (25 psi popoff)
Pilot screw = 1 1/4
Main Screw = 1
- - - - - -
Gas Octane = 91
Altitude = 0 with super thick humid/hot air
Main type of riding = Freeride
Would it pass the 10 second WOT test = Yes!
Powerband = Good all around, but it really screams mid to top end.

Motor type/setup = Stock 62T Cases/ 61X Cylinders STD bore, 180 psi Head, Factory B Pipe w/ mod chamber, MSD Enhancer, FCV, Stock F/A's with 1 screen and choke plates removed, Skat 140mm 12 vein pump with 13/18.

Read through this thread and I need your guys opinion on where to start for jetting/tuning. I have an 06 Superjet with the following mods. B pipe, ADA girdled head with 35cc domes, msd enhancer, aftermarket water box, k&n filters w/ pre filters, hooker prop, vforce 3 reeds, msd ignition coil, and stock dual 38's. I think that's all as far as the performance mods go. The rest are handling mods. Let me know what you guys think I should run for a starting point.

Almost forgot altitude is around 800-1200 above sea level I believe.

Also choke plate has been replaced with a primer

That's pretty much the jetting that factory pipe calls for.

I can imagine you will be close.

Which jetting do you think will bring me close? I checked out the factory pipe jetting and the carbs were at those settings previously but it ran like crap.

Thanks,

Factory Pipe
120 pilot
145 main
95 gram spring

Previous Jetting - No idle, Fouling Plugs, Zero Bottom end no matter what screw settings.
120 pilot
137.5 main
95 gram spring 38 psi popoff

Current Jetting - Good idle , crisp rev, but not water tested yet.
70 pilot
135 main
95 gram spring w/ coils cut 25 psi popoff

It all depends on what ski it's in, what pipe you have, prop ect. I like using factory pipes website as a starting point for many things. Just find whatever is closest to your ski and go from there. Jetting is a bunch of trial and error, but it's worth taking the time to do it right.

UPDATE: I took the SJ out this weekend and it ran like it is almost spot on. Almost no hesitation at all from just above idle to WOT. One thing I am trying to figure out is why the ski idles good out of the water, but has none in the water. It fires really easily and has no problem getting right on the throttle just no idle in the water.
