do what you enjoy.
pretty simple.

If you enjoy what you do, you will be good at it, and when you are good at something, you generally get compensated for being good.

well im in landscaping now and was looking to turn directions i think
winter really isnt my thing being out shivvering my bones off
im 18 and gonna graduate here in the spring
just looking for options

This year I made a choice to go back to school...I have always wanted to work on powersport equipment(ski's, atv's, bikes, etc) at 18 I could have but chose to persue a different route. After about 5 years of working I was in a rut and quite unhappy. Going back to school has proven to be the best decision I could have made. I am actually looking forward to the future now and what it might bring. My best advice for you, like already mentioned is to persue something you are passionate about...and the money will follow.

yea the work ive been doing lately is pretty back breaking..digging lines for electricity to houses and all in the freezing weather...its not what i was expecting to do all winter and the snow just adds to the pain

there is only one thing i really love at teh moment and that is jetskis
more of the hull work than engines
such as glassing and all
i got accepted to PSU not too long ago as well but...you dont get paid to do that lol

I went in the Navy for 6 years, it worked well for me. You have to have a goal though, I went in for a good education in the nuclear program and got it.

6 years there as a nuke electrician on a sub, decent pay, got to see the world literally (Florida, Hawaii, Guam, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, France), got out and landed a good job as a maintenance electrician but moved up to automation programming then it manager.

Don't make your hobby your job.

Landscaping here in Huntsville can make you some kick azz money. You can't be the employee/laborer though. You have to be the man. My ex landscaper (I started doing my own since I bought a bobcat and dump trailer) makes some seroius cash. I love landscaping. I kinda make it a hobby now.

WTF? I use an excavator or backhoe for that. You guys dig that shiot by hand?

no we have a backhoe but idk i just hate the cold...in the summer i pretty much work 40 hrs a week and go skiin on the weekends which is what i like
get paid 7 bones an hr which isnt that great
but whipping around lawns all day is pretty fun i gues
just the damn cold gets to me

Like I said...you aren't the man in the scheme. The man is makin the money while you are doing the work. If you can turn that around and start your own stuff, you can realize your true dollar potential. My lowest paid laborer will make 10 an hour, and he is not skilled whatsoever.

i was just like you, i join the us army and change my life forever. i did 2 1/2 years and got out and now have a great job as a tech. working on 18 wheelers
