Good and bad in south.. We lived in Florida for a while in 1990's. hurricanes are a issue, in 1993 we had to avoid it by e-vacing north -- that hurricane Hugo was horrible. I remember the bad fires and drought of 1999, maybe 98.. Our waterfront home was not waterfront for nearly 8 months, plus bad smake smell. Florida summers are super hot with thunderstorm in mid afternoon often.

Where we are in South Carolina, the Hurricanes seemto go inland around us. we get hit with some pretty good rains but nothing close to the onslaught others get to the north and south of us. Knock on Wood.

I put a jinx on the wave gods until my ski is done! lol....
June is NEVER a good riding month...we start getting waves in July and gets better in August. Late August and September almost everyday is a wave day after around 2pm...and October brings the big swells.
Then we head to Virginia and Daytona!
ps....we have to set up a 'slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch' day for SURE!

but, yes, I would move to Freeridia! 85% of this country never sees one single wave, so we have it better than most!

nice house just a couple blocks from me is up for 79,999 right now. our house is worth 190,00 if that isn't a deal i don't know what is. 5 min to the bayou, 15-20 to the beach, 45 to a deep pass and jetty.
we thought of buying it as a rental.

What hurts you the most living in Florida is taxes and insurance....that doubled our mortgage payment.
Alabama has super low property taxes so we went from like 500-800 a year to 4,000 a year for a postage stamp piece of property. Wasn't worth it......which was one reason we moved onto the boat.

Pensicola has about as good of waves as we have here in Cleveland, although the riding season is much longer and the ocean is only about 3 hours away.
