WILKEY

SO FAR CHANGE SUCKS!!!!!!
I moved not knowing a soul. My parents have 100 acres in upstate NY where I could build a house. But only 1 state cuts it for me.

Vogi, you need to start snow skiing with the Nurse and I...Its fun here, plus there are killer places right in NY about 2 hours away.

BTW...all this whining should be for nothing....I am calling for Waves this weekend. sloppy waves, but waves.

Florida: Hot as hell in summer, flat
California: Ice cold water, killer waves, but nowhere to ride where you can pull up to the beach. (unless you count Mexico)

I live in Erie (the city) and we have waves maybe half the time and those are usually 2', in Presque Isle Bay there are many boats creating nice rollers on the weekends. For those on the great lakes there is a site which has water conditions for the lakes: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/. When the wind is blowing the waves are an easy 4-6' heck one day there were constant 45mph winds west to east and the were creating solid 4' rollers LEAVING the bay. During the winter I ski from the end of november to the beginning of april at peekn' peak as a ski instructor. Believe it or not there are seasonal sports to do up here.

PK N PK is cool, but not enough steep stuff for me. I prefer Holiday Valley.

I get bored at the peak....nice place though!

I get bored easily there too but that forces one to get creative such as I can now board AND ski or do things like race down the hill backwards on my race skiis or take whole run on just the left or right ski. Peekn' Peak would be the equivalent of flatwater riding for a standup.

Where at man...I will drive there anytime to ride the hole.

I normally ride the Upper river where lake erie meets the river. LOTS of boat traffic all day. Nice boats all day long passing.

The hole.. lol well i was down there on the american side and still dont understand how you got the skis in there. we walked the trails. That water moves fast and i do not trust my ski the way its been performing to do anything like that

And Korn Holiday Valley for sure! an hour away from me not even. I traveled to whiteface in lake placid last year. Such good runs up there.

somebody gimme a good reason not to sell my ski and get back into bikes. this area sucks for riding, we have no surf no decent weather. on second thought the weather is not even that great for bikes. its all ways cold rainy and flat water. maybe i should buy a really good video game system and tons of junk food. oh yah dont forget the pot and booze. god a hate this place. :grumble:

I thought you were talking about Buffalo, NY for a minute there... so ready to move back down south...

just need to be indepently wealthy so i can chase the surf around the planet.

Well, the home prices at least down here in southwest florida are ridiculously cheap! Its 80,000$ for a 1200 sqft house with a 2 car garage on 1.14 acres and about 15 miles away from the water (gulf). There are plenty of places down here.... Why not be in the sunshine... right? Although if you don't like the heat it may not be the place for you. Right now its about 99 with the heat index and the water is up around 85 or 86.

my wife just lost her job... and things are not looking good at my place these days. anything happens, I'm ready to head south. I keep telling my wife, I'd rather be homeless in Florida than working in New York... LOL

Thats about where my mom and step dad are at, they used to own a great huge interior wood shutter company in philadelphia. But what do you know the chinese took over and the competion was so hard to keep up with. They are probably moving down here because you have no reason to be depressed when you can walk out side and go swimming or go to the beach and drink a couple beers down there. I like it alot, the only reason I would move would be like North Carolina or California. But for now, I think Florida is where I belong lol. Born and Raised.

Hell, I work at a golf coarse and I get free golf any day (I work 3 days a week full time 40 hours at 25$ an hour) Nothing real special but I am happy. So that leaves me 4 days a week to do what ever I want to do, jet ski, golf, mudding (atv's), fishing. You name it were doing it on the days off. Yeah we have to flush our ski's out after every ride down here, and it is flat right now... till hurricane season but we go on mangrove trails and stuff and its just nice to cruise back in the trails its like riding a bike trail but your on water, lots of fun!
