Ok is this very common down there? I know you guys have a lot more snakes than we do up north. Just trying to judge whether or not to bring the dogs. I just saw this on the local fishing forum under a thread titled "watersports beware! Pueblo 5-6-14"
"Fished Pueblo yesterday afternoon. We launched from the North Shore marina and after getting beyond the No Wake zone I cranked up the motor. We were going for about thirty seconds when I veered to avoid what I though was a long stick. It turned out to be a 3.5 to 4 foot long rattlesnake! I turned the boat around and it tried to coil. It's head was raised about 6-8" above the water and it's rattles were slightly underwater. I couldn't believe this snake was out a good 200-300 yards from the north shore!
My partner took a photo with his cell phone and I'll append the photo tomorrow when he sends it to me. The scary part was there were a few jet skiers and wakeboarders out yesterday afternoon and they finished their day skiing in the area of the snake. I never encountered a snake that far out on the water (in Colorado)."
