well here it is finally! i finally decided to cut into my project after its been sitting since the summer. so here is my winter build!:bananajump:

Hull is a stock 1991 Sn with no extras

motor is a stock 61x

pump is a 144mm with trim nozzle

my plans are to:
-Cut the gunwales down
-cut the hood down to make the lines run together
-cut down the nose to make it rounded
-cut 2" off of the rear of ski

ill probably have alot more in store for the ski, but this is what ive got for now.

this thanksgiving week ill probably finish most of the body work so ill keep everyone posted

enjoy! :cheer:

i started by making a template out of cardboard for the cut i wanted to make on the gunwales then used a jigsaw and saws-all to cut the section out.
this ski sat for most of its life so the inside was dry as a bone!
the plan is to get some 2 part 2lb foam and set it on the gunwales so i can shape them into what i want them to look like, then fiberglass them to my liking.

Then after the gunwales were done, we started on cutting the hoodliner out, and shaving the hood down.

i used pretty much the same process, just make a template and trace it on both sides. it doesnt look pretty right now. but when i get the foam and start to get the finished shape, it'll be pretty

After we got the gunwales and hood cut down, i decided to get a bit crazy and chop off almost the entire nose of the ski. :bigok:

i just traced a basic shape on the nose in pencil so it would look more rounded like the Rn nose.

once again, more foam shaping and fiberglass to come!

after i got all that done i stood back and got some shots of the rough layout i plan on getting after this is done.

i might try to get the rickter style nose with no lip :scratchchin:

there is surely much more experimentation and ideas that will come up along the road with this one.

i plan on getting the foam, fiberglass, and all the other supplies i need some time tomorrow. but for now, more sanding, cutting, and refining

Old, but still ridin'!!!
Looks great. One suggestion, you might think about chopping a little off the top of the hood to lower the profile a bit. If you decide to put a roundnose pole on it, it will make the lines look better. I just put an XMetal pole on mine and it would look a lot better if I chopped about an inch off the top of the hood.

Something like this maybe . . .

Looking nice. You have many many itchy fiberglass covered nights ahead of you. Go ahead and do what Glory said with the hood. If you're this far into it, you might as well do it right. What layup are you looking at for your mods?

Interesting look with that yellow-green foam all over the nose.

If you did the whole ski in that stuff you could sprinkle some seed on it and have a Chia-Ski.

if you decide to cut the hood lower you have to lower the nose more as well so the lines match up.

on my buddys square we hacked up the hood, then built the nose up to be even with the lowered hood.

well right now ive just been going off of some drawings ive done and i also got some ideas from looking at other peoples builds. and the hood is getting chopped down a bit so i can round out the top some more.
right now this is just the start of it all. i plan on cutting, chopping, and rebuilding like crazy since its already all apart.

and a fuzzy living ski? thatd be different :bananapowerslide:
