no, sorry for the delays but i have been busy at work and haven't had time to go pick up the needed materials to finish. I got the sled running good tho.
well i have been through this whole thread and it amazes me the ski is looking great. You have done great at fiberglassing and sanding. Wish i could get the nerve to cut off a little from the back of my sj it would be nice. Cant wait to see how this rides?
sorry to hear you read thru this whole thread, that must have been tough lol. my skis have never been nice on the outside. i think my ski is pretty ugly until you pop the hood. under the hood is where i usually spend the most detail. i guess that is the key to hacking it up. it would be harder to do if the hull had a fancy paint job. I will be sure to post when i make some progess and a ride report.
We got pounded with snow for the past 24 hours and no one showed up for work today. i took the snow day as an opportunity to go get some supplies. I got some 2 part west systems thick epoxy that you use in a regular caulking gun. 1 tube was enough to bond and seal my first sponson. i also did a "visual" carbon layup on the nose. it is only 1 layer and will give me something to layup against from the inside. i hope it works.
i reinforced the nose tonight and have been shaping the front exhaust outlet in my sponson that goes on the other side. I am going to try and get it on tommorrow.
Rt on! Glad you're back at it. I'm friggin beat today and am stuck to the couch. I'll be doing some nose and front side ex work too. Through a sponson too dammit! A bit later, but getting there. I don't know... I might start pulling parts tonight (motor, tank, water box, pump, pole..) to keep things rolling. Or not LMAO!
yeah i have lots of winter left so it tends to be tough at times staying motivated enough to get thru all the little jobs. Today i installed the other sponson. i need to do a little trimming around the exhaust outlet. the nose is 6 layers of carbon and seems strong and solid. I have fear of the carbon delaminating from the nose being blunt. I used some rivits with backing washers on the nose to help mechanically keep the nose on.
i think i will put on the typical no nose tow hook thingy. then ratchet strap to the trailer frame. i seen one at homehardware today but got scared of how heavy it was. gotta make or find something a bit less heavy duty.
